Because, why not?

No Spyderco, please. I'm a goon, and the full flat grind blades just feel too delicate for me.

Under $60. That's it. I'm not going even "if you raise your price point/go a little above" sixty. I know that great knives can be found for $65, $70, $75, and so on. Sixty is the most I feel comfortable spending on a knife that I know is going to get it's share of wear marks, and then some!

Folding knife. If I could carry a fixed blade, I would, but somebody from corporate had a freak out one time, and now we all have to play nice for the regional office.

3 inch blade. This is essential, again because of the delicate sensibilities of those higher up on the pay scale.

The Buck Vantage and RAT folder are possibles, but I would like to know if there's something I missed.

Any recommendations?

Come on, no spyderco? Thats fine. I recommend a ontario rat 2. You can get two of them for your limit of $60. It has a 3" blade like you want, and would be classified as a beater to me. Here is a link to one (they have them in different color handles).

Another knife I highly recommend thats under $60 is a kershaw link. I got my brother one for Christmas. Only thing though, its a 3.25" blade intstead of 3". Here is a picture of his knife I got engraved at knifeworks.com.

Well since the price is hard, is the 3" hard also because of legality, or just sensitivity? If the later, I'll second the Kershaw Link and add the Blur. I think they are both 3.25". So if just for sheeple purposes, may not notice a difference in blade length. But if legal, I'd recommend following the law. Maybe buy a little less expensive knife this time around, and donate the rest of your budget to kniferights.org so they can continue to lobby the removal of stupid knife laws. [emoji12]

Or FinnWolf from CS if you can carry longer blade.

Tuff Lite is a good sub 3"er.
Gerber has the Ultralight LST. Can be had for $20. Very light.

Kershaw Cryo. All stainless steel...Solid as stone ...buy two for less than 50 bucks.. This is my everyday carry & I own over 100 knives. Daughter and grandson both love theirs. Hard to go wrong for less than $25 each.

Another vote for the Kershaw Link. Right now my son is working Summer Camp as a Boy Scout and using the hell out of his stonewash Link with GRN scales. I sharpen it for him over the weekend and it's good for the week. Tasks so far have been whittling and rope/cordage cutting. Lock up is still tight and it flips open fine. Last week had to get some crud washed out of the pivot as it felt gritty. He's got 2 more weeks to go and it's still going strong.

The 3" blade limit applies to any knife that is brought on to Company property, and you can be terminated for violating that rule.

True story. I had a Cara-Cara for a while, and a supervisor eyeballed it, and questioned me about the blade length. IIRC, the Cara-Cara is 3.5", and if he could tell the difference just by looking, I'm not even taking a quarter of an inch chance!

I forgot about the Cryo. I had one, and got rid of it, and have regretted the decision ever since.

But the Tuff-Lite is a contender, too.

Maybe I'll go with the Bladeforums correct answer and get both! :D

Keep 'em coming fellas!

Kizer Vanguard V3 liner lock in VG-10.

Hard to beat the Cold Steel Tuff Lite given those criteria. Inexpensive, super durable, well-made, very utilitarian in function and appearance.

Kizer Vangaurd falls into your parameters, exactly 3 in. blade, under $60 on popular knife websites.
I have a couple Kizers at slightly higher price points and really like 'em.
They all seem stout and kinda overbuilt.
