New Becker Patrol Pack?

Just the way of manufacturing.

I'm in, looking forward to see how and when it will be available.

I already have some good backpacks, but the BPP looks promising as a larger trekking pack.

There’s a thread over on bcusa that says there’s a new version of the BPP about to be released with Ethan’s approval. Anyone here know anything about it? Here’s a pic-

If you can’t see the thread, here’s some spec info-

“Yes, all the outside pouches have pass throughs. They added cinch straps to the front pouches which were lacking on the original. Also side cinch straps for when the main bag isn’t totally full.

Plus, an upgraded/updated suspension system and internal frame sheet with aluminum stave, and a zippered admin lid pouch which should be really handy.

All the changes were approved by Mr. Becker.”

I really hope this is true!

I'd be down for one! Good to see you Creaky, we miss you, Warrior and Tanker over at the other place....

I miss the wonderful folks there as well, but life is about three steps beyond chaotic right now. Hopefully the future will bring some calm, and maybe a few extra hours in the day. Best to you and yours my friend and hug the missus for me :)

Thanks Creaky. We hope you and the family are doing well. Wishes for some serenity in the near future!

Any word from Ethan on this?

I saw the pics of the harness straps - I didn't like the inferior edged straps they were using. Every major brand used edgeless straps like modern backpacks, so that the strap edges don't dig with heavy loads, especially with lighter clothing.

"...pouched have pass throughs." What does that mean?

Thanks,

"...pouched have pass throughs." What does that mean?

Thanks,

It means you can attach long items to your pack like an axe, machete, etc and they stay close to the main body of the pack.

To be more specific it means there is a open slot between the pouch and the pack body, to carry long items like axes/machetes/knives - the pouch is NOT fully sewn across like regular packs.

I've been talking to cousin bongo -- the guy who is having these made.
he says they're being produced by a SA company that has also produced gear for their military that he had making gear for him back in 2003.
It makes me wonder if this isn't the same company that made some of the early prototypes for ESEE 10+ years back.

as soon as he has the packs in hand he will open up his website and let me know they're available.
for the record, I do NOT have any personal, fiscal, or business relationship with CB.

I got an update from cousin bongo this morning. Website should be live next week. Packs are in, will be available in black, green, and orange. Prices will be painful but not absurd - comparable to a Gregory paragon 58, osprey levity 45, or Arc'teryx aerios 45 and less than a hpg umlindi v2.
