for sale and advertising links are typically not allowed. i'd have to see e original to judge it. some links are just really overty sales, some are quasi... many are not intended to be, but are...

your local mods usually just edit that out to be friendly and verbaly warn you... supah mods mostly smite. sometimes, we do too... there's a point where if you keep doing it... smite :)
 
A yellow card/warning on BF has no points associated with it, so I'd hardly call it a smiting. It was a completely fair penalty as far as I'm concerned. I have read the rules thoroughly, knew better, and despite that let my laxness and enthusiasm get the better of me. I went through and deleted every mention of the knife shop selling the D2 PBs that I could and will be watching my ass much closer from here on in.

I'm not the only lax-ish one though so if the supermods ever decided to do a sweep I think others might suffer too.

At least it wasn't the german forum or the mods may have cut off your hands, then said enjoy your knives now! Yeh we r all guilty of infractions from time to time, myself included

Be careful, man... I think "German = SS hahah" doesn't sit real well with modern Germans. My exchange students told me it's rare for people to even display the German flag because of the heavy historical weight associated with national pride, which is really sad considering how awesome Germany is.
 
And that does suck that a few years out of a nations history scars it forever. Pitty. I wanna go to germany, everything I've seen and heard sounds like an awesome place. There and ireland are two places I wanna see (and drink) on the bucket list

man they gave you a yellow card for that? this is why im not really a member of bladeforums even tho i love knives. i think the rules here are way to ridiculous and all based on making more and more money. like the people wouldnt be making loads already on the traffic. but hey, why would they admit it if people dont know how it all works. why not ask for membership, paid ads and such. im sorry to hear that they punished you for showing people my link. i know you were just trying to show something that people here might be interested and find it helpful but people in power wont let such a thing because that person you were trying to show didnt pay the owners of the forum... thats why i love you tube. you do what you want and show what you want to show. and if you know your stuff and put up good information, people will watch and will listen and give advice and thank you for advice... but yeah, the key difference, i dont make money on it, clearly not what people running forums are about... :( *insert a very sad face here*

He only got a light slap on the wrist(yellow=no points). There is lots of BF traffic, and if a craftsman/service provider paid a small amount each year(what is it about $90) they can advertise here. Links can be posted directly to their website.
In the scheme of things the cost is negligable compared to possible profits. I would be a craftsman if I had a desirable skill.
It seems that the cost is more of a commitment to the community, that helps to "weed out" those "fly by night" types that arrive to screw the rest of the BFC.
 
gavko, I gotta admit that I do think that the rules make sense, got no problems with BladeForums' business model, and that I do feel I deserved the very, very minor paddling that I got. I feel that I've been treated on the fair side by BF mods to date and have zero complaints.

I knew the rules! It would have been the easiest thing to make the post on your (awesome!) Warthog sheaths completely compliant. I just got lazy.

Personally I think your sheaths are great, your knife mod videos are amazing and entertaining, and it'd be worth your while to develop a business relationship with Bladeforums and make your great work available to the membership here.

And remember, don't cut yourself brother :)
