New Belt

I think the price range is foolish
why the big differance for the same type belt I wonder?
and why no higher grit range? old minds want to know:confused: :D

If Darrel says they are good, that is good enough for me.I am ordering ten of 36,50,and 80.I'll post how the do.

Dan.Larger grit is more expensive to make than smaller( you can crush larger down, you can't make smaller bigger). This type of grit has no advantage above around 100 grit.It is the exposed sharp corners that do the cutting. In finer grits there is just not enough corner to matter.

Hello, my name is Jeff, and I am a Norax Addict. Yes, sadly, it's true. I'm battling a very severe addiction to premium belts. I'm fearful that if I try these new SG belts, there's no going back. :D

I'm beginning to question the real cost savings on using cheap belts that dont even last one blade. Might be worth the added expense in the long run.

Good timing! My belt selection was running thin, as my first belt purchase for the KMG was very uninformed, and ended up having me with a bunch of A/O belts that didnt last very long. My two 60 hoggers are still going strong, though!

I got some of these new blaze belts in 60 and 80 with my belt order...they sound nice, but we shall see!

At the prsent time I am using the 3M 977 Cubitron on my surface grinder and they are $6.60 a pop from Pop's. :D :D I'll see when I get the above if they are as good as the 977.

If the big brown truck shows up, I should have some today. I will let you know how they work.

The Norax belts last a very long time for me, Mark. I'm almost ashamed of the way they look sometimes, and I am still using them. Now take that as a grain of salt coming from a guy who is... well, WAS a huge proponent for blowing through your belts like they was nothing, giving them a toss at the slightest hint of being used up. Not anymore. I feel like the Norax series is the Engergizer Bunny of abrasive belts.

I've been using the cheapest belts that Pop's carries. Might have to check out some of the more expensive ones.

oh I see, it's like
a 1CT diamond is more valuable than 2, 1/2 CT diamonds, both of the same quality But
but wouldn't that be a$$ backwards?, diamond chips in the same situation would be less money.
assuming to get the sharpness in the grits they would crush it and then size it .

I think hes saying that they can make finer blets from curshings of the larger belts, but the process costs more inherently, then, to generate larger chips since they are "source" grits. In dimamonds its different, since the rarity of larger carat diamonds is what drives up the price, not necessarily the size. Its not like they find a 50 carat flawless diamond and choose to make it into diamond dust for honing....If diamonds were readily available in large quantities such that they made belts from them, i'd guess the same pricing would be true? Just a guess...

I use the 977 belts also and find them to be of good quality. Other than the machines themselves the biggest expendature in most shops are the belts we use. I know I am always looking for something that will work better than what I am currently using. Hours at the grinder are not my idea of a good time. Bring on that super belt, that you change once a year. Like George does his underwear. Fred
