New Belt

hi all i have been using klingspor ceramic belts for years and have just stopped using them because of cost they started out costing $9.75 each to grind 4 knives but have risen over the the last 8 years to $19.50 so it is more econimic to use a cheaper belt at $5 and grind 2 knives with it if this seems expensive its probaly because my grinders run 2x108 inch belts just my 2 cents
cheers john

Heh! I didn't say George who. I really had someone else in mind. But, damn, now that I know there is a problem, I'll send you a couple pair. Little wit, Fred:thumbup: :D :jerkit:

Dan gave me the idea for the ultimate belt.A seamless nanotube mesh belt, impregnated with 200 micron diamond crystals. It might be a bit pricey, but man would it cut steel.

I'd like them to make the perfect belt. One that will vanish before we think its worn out enough to toss.
Raymond

How about belts you just throw in a bucket overnight with a table spoon of grit and they regenerate themselves.

Just thought i'd jump back in this thread.....i've been grinding on a 50 grit "blaze" for the past few days, and I like it! It may just he psychosematic, but it sure does "feel" alot sharper than it should! Long term use will tell the real test, though.....

but also, they are orange, and we all know a new color means QUALITY, haha

getting ready to order some belts....can anybody else confirm that these new belts are better than the 3M 977? (what I use)

Daniel, I told Wayne Goddard about the new belts and he got some 60's and 80's. He said he hasn't used them enough yet to be able to tell how well they hold up but he did say they were sharper they any he's seen so far. I'll be ordering some for myself once my hoggers are about gone.
