New Benchmade Redoubt 430...Why?

The Benchmade Redoubt doesn't look bad at all and their treatment of CPM-D2 is something I'd put money down on. The only thing I don't like about it is the green patch. It reminds me a lot of the orange patch they have on the Grizzly Ridge. Someone is likely hammering out new scales for this knife as we speak.

The Weekender looks nice and slicey. It's got the extra utility angle that some of the Kershaw older models have, but with higher grade materials. The big problem with a high quality slipjoint is that they're putting themselves in competition with knives from Case, Boker, and the Lionsteel Bestman line.

A Redoubt with brown canvas micarta scales backed up by stainless liners would be very sweet. I still think I would wait until I could pick one up on the second-hand.

I know that some of the price is warranty and Made in America, and I respect that. But alternatives exist, and even cutlery enthusiasts have been conditioned by the "cheaper is better", Wal-mart marketing campaign, and it's difficult to get past that. I have more respect for BM's new catalog than what most of Kershaw or all of GSM's offerings.

I'm also hoping that at least one company is savvy enough to bring something good to SHOT show, but that's another topic.

I actually really like the blade and handle shape on the Redoubt, I'm just unwilling to pay the Butterfly tax on it. The Taggedout and Shootout, though, very much have my attention and likely my money.
Just wondering why the shootout? It looks like a g10 sandwich otf, and I'm sure won't be cheap. But I've seen excitement about this one so I may be missing something?

I like the Shootout too, the only thing I’m not sold is this miracle material CF-Elite…
And maybe the price, but I’m sure it’ll come down with the time.

I think it's just a carbon fiber reinforced polymer rebranded to play on the popularity of carbon fiber in the knife world. I'm far from an engineer or an expert, but I think it's essentially GRN/FRN with better rigidity and strength, though I could be wrong.

From what ive seen for 2022 new releases from Benchmade and Cold Steel, its the worst year ever....
Look on the bright side: an "Off" year just gives us a chance to save up our pennies, and wait for the 2023 releases...

I’m no expert either, just wondering how well it’ll hold on the constant beating from opening and closing…
I wish they had the knife disassembled so I can glance on the internals, it’ll give us some idea if it’ll hold or develop more play than intended.
‘Otherwise I like the steel. And of course - the tanto profile 😅

Someone should start a forum for people that just want to discuss the minutiae and nuance of every detail of their hobby.
You could be the first. Call it, I don't like this. I bet it would be pretty popular lol

I'm not sure if Knifecenter is joking or this comes from Benchmade, either way, it's ridiculous,
am I the only one that don't see anything HUGE ?

I actually really like both the designs on the Redoubt and the Taggedout. Both are kind of just a no-nonsense design that appeals to me. However... Both would need aftermarket/custom scales for me to be truly happy with them.
