New Benchmade "Redoubt"

That justifies their insane prices?

🤣

Edit: I sharpen my own knives. I know how fast any knife can dull when really used. For a desk job, a free sharpening service would make sense I suppose.

Kershaw offers free sharpening. They sell $30 knives.

All I'm saying is, Benchmade has unreasonable pricing.

I'm out before the fanboys come out with the pitch forks. Have a good day all

$160 is “insane” pricing for a US made knife in a decent steel? Ok, then.

CPM-D2 worked on by Benchmade is going to be a huge step up from D2 from a mass produced folder thrown into the oven thousands at a time. I really like the Redoubt, but there are a couple dozen knives on The List that I want to buy more. These days I'm mostly focused on fixed blades and Italian folders. A couple years ago, when I was buying a lot of Benchmade knives, this would have been near the top of my list.

I like the design, it's pretty cool. Definitely not one of my favorite new designs or really on my list unless someone beat the crap out of one for a month and then sold it to me for cheap, but I do like it. It does look like a good one for some aftermarket scales. I like the Tagged Out also but kind of feel the same way.

CPM-D2 at 60-62 hrc aint too bad though.

You think that $160.00 for a lifetime guaranteed, made in USA knife with free lifetime sharpening is insane pricing? Have you shopped around much?

For some reason I thought it was in the $250 bracket.

My comment was generalized anyway. As a whole, Benchmade is very proud of their knives. I think their prices are typically ridiculous. They probably have some decently priced knives but I'm not a fan of Benchmade for other reasons, so I don't normally browse their knives to keep up to date. The ones I stumble upon give me sticker shock most of the time.

$160 for a US made knife? Unless the materials are spectacular, and it looks like they aren't, I still say that's a touch high. Just my opinion.

I'm well aware of the inflation of knife prices over the past couple years. So maybe I just need to get with the times.
It does suck to see knife prices double and triple over just a couple years.

If I was in the market for a Benchmade, which as of right now I’m not, it may be one I’d consider. I don’t think $160 is overpriced necessarily. Honestly my biggest gripe is that it doesn’t come in black. I’m super basic and don’t like anything flashy or colored. All my knives are either plain titanium, or titanium with either black or OD G10/micarta

I'm honestly a bit surprized with cpm-d2... would have loved to see this in magnacut ;)

anyway, the thread needs a pic:

Anyone who says that cpm d2 at 60-62 is a cheap steel or not worth the price is ignorant. It will run laps around all the butter soft s-xxvn coming out of China or aus10a out of Taiwan (cough cough demko) that people seem to love. Cpm d2 has nearly 3x the toughness while nearly identical if not superior edge holding capabilities and with the new cpm grain distribution, none of the chipping issues of normal d2 or s-xxvn. The price point on that knife is perfect. Only thing I wish they’d change is the scale and thumbstud color.

Benchmade does D2 very well, speaking of my 710 and Grippie in D2 -- both very fine-grained, hold a terrific edge. CPM-D2 would be even better.

Looks like a neat folder. But if I was in super duper doubt situation out there survivin' 'n' shietz I would probably take fixed blade instead.

Maybe not for this thread, but the warranty is not all inclusive, only manufacturer defect. Benchmade has now raised replacing blades to around 40 to 50 percent of the model price. What happened to lifetime warranty? Now it's covered unless you use it to much?

It would also be great for 160 bucks to get a sharp knife, which Benchmade has issues doing to begin with. So you get to use the lifesharp before you get to use the knife!

I love Benchmade, but paying the butterfly tax is not what it used to be.

Yeah I wonder how the #blackknivesmatter movement feels about not having a black option. BM could be looking at some bad press for being racist lol!

If you like complaining about prices increasing on things you are probably having a good time right now. Everything is getting way more expensive, including knives. The price isn’t ridiculous. It is what a higher end knife costs now.
