New BK2 knife, problem after problem with KaBar.

Have you checked your sheath? I know a few people had a problem with theirs and their edges...

Are you asking if the sheath is making my knife dull?

The knife being dull is NOT my biggest problem as is the knives edge being completely uneven from one side of the blade to the other. The knife I currently have in my possession has a 20 degree angle on one side and no angle (flat) on the other.

see if your camera has macro settings, most do by pushing left or right on the arrow pad. it will be signified by a flower. This will show extreme close-ups. Waiting to see the evidence!!

Thanks for the reply. I tried what you said with the camera options and it worked. I posted the picture to my original post, so you can take a look at what I am dealing with.

Nothing really shows up in that photo. Not very clear.

Thanks. You take a picture of your knife at the same angle and tell me how it works out for you.

I'm not your enemy here, just sayin. If you want people to see what the problem is, then post a blurry photo, as you yourself said it was, how is anyone supposed to see it? Why not take a photo of each side of the grind? Maybe it would show better like that.

Dude. No need to get snarky about it. How can we help you if you don't provide a decent image of what your concern is?

Now that you know how to snap some macro shots, experiment with it a bit until you get a good shot.

okay guys if this is the case and the knife has no grind on one side I want to know WHO IS IN CHARGE OF QUALITY CONTROL !!! ???

These threads are getting so old, and I'm just keeping it real and not trying to spread hate and all but, someone needs to get their act together..

(puts on flamesuit)

I posted a close up, hopefully this helps. Thanks.

lay it flat on a white piece of paper and take a picture, then flip it over and take a picture of the other side -- this will show if the grind lines are uneven much better than an edge on view the length of the blade.
on macro setting, keep the camera about 2 feet from the blade and take the pic, then crop the image before posting - this will help "magnify" it without making it blurry.
good luck.

Two of my bk11's came with a fairly bad grind. Both with something like a 25/15 or 30/10 angle. Just yesterday I sharpened my new bk9. Kind of a steep angle grind, and couldnt shave arm hair out of the box, but I got a nice edge on it after a few hours. I learned to reprofile my bk11's and spent some time on the bk9 and all was well. Uneven grinds are a pain to deal with, but they are easily fixed with some cheap equipment that you will need eventually anyways.

If it wasn't ground at all in certain spots, that's a issue, but I think KABAR will take care of you. As for the poor grinds, it is a good learning experience.

I personally don't understand all this "sending stuff back because something is wrong". Are you able to sharpen a knife? If no, why do you own several of them? If yes, I don't see a problem. The grind on my BK14 was a bit off too, after 2 months of use I don't even remember what was wrong anymore. The grind on my BK9 was a bit off too, causing the edge to sweep up on the last inch before transitioning into the handle. So what? The 14 serves me extremely well every day, and the 9 was absolutely usable too. I think we all need to spend more time working with our knives than whining about them. For example, look at md25's posts. He always scores in the contests, does beautiful/awesome things with his Beckers, and I have never ever read any complaint about scratches in blade coating or grinds being off.

I can understand your disappointment about the fact that they sent you a half sharpened knife, but seriously, put a bevel on the other side, sharpen it up and go use it. There's not much to screw up, with the huge amount of metal you got there. Cut some wood. Then you'll see why I'm fine with minor imperfections on my Beckers.

Again, I don't mean to step on your toes, and I can understand your disappointment. You were going to mess with the grind anyways, weren't you? Most of us here do.

meat.

Definitely dig your attitude, pal (This was sarcastic, just so you're aware). TDub, you should now proceed to take a whole shitton of pics like this just to shut this guy up.

FreeRunner, I understand you had a few issues with your knives, but you already started off looking like a troll. Don't start acting like a punk and giving attitude to the good people in here. You sounded like a teenager in insulting Toooj above an now you're giving others the same shit. Just cool it; people here are trying to help the troll.

Everyone crank it down a notch. I understand frustration, but sarcasm and insults won't be tolerated. The best thing to do now, is sit back, and let Toooj and Ethan weigh in on the matter.

Ok, I've heard from Toooj and Ethan both on the matter. The details may vary, but the punchline is, I'm moving thist GBU, where it belongs.

Freerunner had a chance to voice his concern, but its time to get this thread where it belongs.

Guess the matter was dropped or whatever.!* XXX I have a #2 and just got a #7 and both are very sharp and I don't have the first thing close to being said bad about them.! Compared to my 2 ESEE's ~~ the #4 and the #6 the 4 of them are about as sharp as I would want them without me putting a Strop to them.! Of course I had 4 Custom Leather Sheaths for them because I was brought up with Leather Sheaths and the smell and the feel ~~ can't beat them.!* Now looking ror 4 different handles and don't know if I want to go with Exotic Wood or Micarta or something completly different. Time will tell.
You all have a nice day.*

You should stop insulting the guy, and calling him a troll. You're obviously a Becker fanboy, and that's fine. But, there's no need to attack the OP because he had complaints against the company. Take your own advice, and cool it.

Insulting the guy? How so? Are you personally harmed by this? Have I posted since then? Bc I'm pretty sure I didn't, but I'm open to correction. Remember, bud, opinions are like assholes. I have mine like you have your own. Sorry you're Kate to the party. Welcome to the internets. :D
