I was messing around at the forge the other night and this kinda popped out!!

Never made one of these before..... a parang of sorts.... It's a little small compared to a traditional one. Maybe I'll make a bigger one soon.

I plan on giving it an "axe handle" grip with copper pins and ferrell. I drew a little sketch of my intentions for the handle....

Nice flow to the blade. Really cool.

It reminded me of a Japanese garden machete at first glance, but I like the curves you shaped.

man.. that thing is cool rick... i love it... looking forward to seeing the finished product...:)

Stunning!!! I love the forged finish. How thick is the spine on that and roughly what is the wieght?

The sketch of the handle just looks right. Please post pictures when you are done with it.

cool man!
that looks like it will fun and useful.
I enjoy using my several parangs and goloks.
I was gonna tease ya about how did ya break off the point, but I don't know ya well enough ;)
be safe... Ted

Rick, Very nice, love the handle design. That'll be a great bush blade.:thumbup: double thumbs up from me.

Rupestris.

My brain chose to ignore that comment....until I read the quote in your post:eek:....and I'm with you.

:p:p

I'm going to taper the tang. The spine is 3/16" at the ricasso and has a distal taper to 1/8".

hey, your a Canuck! need a tester to take that blade deep into the thick dark BC woods and test er out? ;)
