New Boker (the wishing well might be working...)

I like the oak barrel scales.

So do I. I have been tempted to get the canoe with the beer barrel wood.

Boker really does wood nice:

And a not so good picture of my new Evergreen:

Nice Zippofan! Got the beer barrel whittler for my son's birthday. It's about the perfect size IMHO. Mind putting a comparison pic up?

Hi all. I'm bumping this "old" thread to the top. Fausto and I are having an email conversation about this knife (the olive wood two blade "stockman"), and I'm wondering how the ollive wood looks after a couple months of aging. Also just wondering what your impressions are after owning it for a while. Thanks!

I'm still considering a Boker purchase, but it probably won't be the two-blade stockman that first caught my eye. I've really grown to dislike sheepsfoot / wharncliffe blades; the Messer Anchor knife in my desk has shown itself useless over and over due to the blade shape - no belly and no tip

Hi Bob. Yeah, I certainly don't care for a sheepsfoot/wharncliffe as the only blade on a knife, but I find them pretty handy as a secondary blade. YMMV.

Sorry I missed this Bemo, threads disappear from page 1 so fast I can't always keep up. I don't have a comparison, though the stockman is a good bit bigger (length, width and weight) than the whittler.

And Keith, I still like this knife as much as the day I got it. It hasn't had enough pocket time to show much change in the color of the handles, I cycle through too many to EDC one consistently for more than a couple of days at a time.

Maybe I have too many knives ....nah! :D

Cheers,
Griff

yeah, what coyote said. I'm good and I'm glad you're enjoying the Boker. Actually carved with my whittler the other night, what a comfortable handle shape.

Based on my experience with my Boker's since this original post, I went and bought a small rosewood pen and a 3 1/4" medium/small stockman, both with carbon blades. The fit and finish is excellent, especially considering the price. I just hope they continue to build traditional patterns in Solingen, I'll buy 'em!

Hi folks,
I'm here again...and I'm resurrecting my own thread, due to a new find.
I've had enough good feedbacks on Solingen made Boker traditionals...but what about the overseas made Boker Plus traditionals? On the Boker US website, I found this knife. Basically, it's pretty close to the one pictured in this thread, just smaller, cheaper, and yeller  :

Now, I'd like to hear your experience with this line. Weird as it may sound, these knives are not sold in Europe, so I never handled one.

Fausto: Just because of the tang stamp on your posted knife it seems this one is from Böker Plus. If so, this knife is not made in Solingen, Germany. They are made mostly in China or Taiwan.

I have a knife from their Böker Plus series, a little lockback, which is from the Böker Plus lineup and it´s made of 440C steel in China. It was on a very nice price. The shield reminds on mine ;)

Do you know what´s stamped on the tang?

Andi,
this knife, without any doubt, belongs to the Boker Plus line. Since (as you surely know) the Boker Plus traditionals are almost non existent in Europe, I have never handled one. In their US website, Boker says it's 440C.
I?m sure some of you had some experience with this line (not necessarily this model though), so i hope for more feedbacks :)

I have a few Boker Plus knives (though not traditionals) and have been very impressed with them.

The Boker I'm thinking of getting is this Stockman.

Nice Jack, I have a barlow with the same handle material and I like it. I don't put Boker + in the same category as Boker Solingen, not even close IMO.

That Barlow looks really nice Kris. Great photo too. The UK site I found the Stockman on only has a few patterns.

My evergreen two blade stockman is causing me some mental discomfort. I don't like the high sheepsfoot so if I decide to use it, I will probably file the kick so it will sit lower and more comfortably in the frame. However, it is a somewhat limited edition and doing so would affect its value to others. I like the concept a lot, but not the execution on this knife; it offers nothing really over Case's Texas jack.

I just can't figure out what I am going to do relative to this particular knife.
