NEW Buck 110 History Webpage

I just checked mine against your “wanted list”. Unfortunately there are no matches. Or I’d send them your way.

When trying to identify some of the 110's when you need to know how many and on which side the end bolster opposite the blade has. Is there a way to help make the pins show up when you can't see them at all?
I have some older 110's that I cannot make out the bolster pins at all. I am sure they are there but they just don't show up.

A really good eye loupe and good light source is the best on difficult ones. If you can send clear photos of the full knife open and stamp visible to my email address at the bottom of my 110 page, I can give you an idea. Or look for my name on Facebook to message the pics there.

Pics or notes of the buttend are helpful too. I can likely narrow it down with good photos.

Hi Michael,

Quick question - I own a...

Variation Six (V5V6) 1974 - 1977
Blade Rivet: 1 visible on both bolsters. ~ Butt Rivets: 2 visible on both bolsters.
Inlay Pins: 3 small headed, brass. ~ Rocker Rivet: Stainless steel, headed.

From everything I have read, it has been my understanding that for the most part, this variation was made in 1977. How did you determine it could be as early as 1974? I'm certainly not challenging your expertise. Just interested in learning more about my variation. Thanks!

The dates are primarily from Joe Houser's timeline, and some from the other sources. Best info I've found is the V5V7 is the 1977 cutoff point. Small pins were after '74 and up to '77. It's all estimation for everyone, there were no defined records at that time.

Sorry the last reply was done so quick. I've had time to actually look for the answer for you.

My very first 110 purchase was August 1977, a week later I bought a second one. Both are V5V7, still have them, well my nephew has one now.

You’ve done a great job and this will aid a lot of people. Thank you.
David Martin David Martin this would be a great addition in the ‘stickies’ section.

Interesting to know that by August 1977, the large headed pins were introduced. Thanks again, Michael!

pj, ok. I'll add it with the 110 data sheets, if. More want it. I know people look at those and read in them. But some have not been posted in for years. I take them for information reading, so it's not lost. Then we don't have to dig it out & it gets lost.
Some good research Michael. DM
