New Burt Foster project - integral wide blade dagger

So a while back I placed an order with Burt for one of his large camp knives. I've always loved this pattern, and I think Burt does amazing work.

Since then I have acquired 2 of his camp knives - an integral, and a large "swashbuckling camp". So I don't really need a camp anymore. Therefore, when Burt contacted me mentioning that my slot was coming, we decided to amend the order a bit. I mentionned the idea of an integral dagger, and after a few back and forth as to the shape, we agreed on a fairly simple wide blade. In my mind, this is somewhat similar to the profile of his camp knives, mirrored on both sides.

Burt has been kind enough to send me a number of pictures of the first stage, rough shaping on the forge, and I'm reproducing them here. I hope you'll enjoy them.

Blackwood or walnut. Ivory would have looked more regal (though not especially better), but I can't really afford it right now.

You can be sure that I'll be pulling up a chair to watch this one. Love the concept. I'd also love to see the other Fosters you picked up. I have a big integral camp on order with Burt and think he excels at that style. Then again, he pretty much excels at anything he decides to make.

Or photograph. He is a stickler to learning it all and doing it right. Good work.

Blackwood will be exceptional. Back to the show....

Joss,
Whatever wood you choose,I'm sure this will be an amazing knife.
There is some KILLER Walnut out there.
BTW/Is it W2 ?

That's really good work on the anvil. Daggers are a bit more difficult to forge than single edge blades and that one is right on the money with symmetry. Nice.
