New Byrds

A couple of Rescues, planned for full serrations.

Byrd rescues? Thanks Sal, that sounds fantastic! I've always loved the Rescue. ( I think my first Spydie was a Rescue, one of the old ones with the FRN clip. Now I have something like 7 different variants.

Now for my usual mantra:

G10! G10! G10! G10!

A G10 Rescue would be amazing!

I got a chance to check out my first Byrd last weekend. My Nephew was given one by his girlfriend and he showed it to me. I was impressed. It felt like a really solid knife. It was a little heavier than I expected but it was well made. I might have to check out more of them. BTW, it was a Cara.

G10 Flight...music to my ears. Been waiting for that, since I like the Flight blade shape much better than the Meadowlark.

I have a G-10 Cara Cara, and have given 2 as gifts. They are tremendous values for the money, and the steel is one of my favorites, no matter what price range we are talking about. It is compared to AUS-8, but has performed better than my AUS 8 knives (though I hear Benchmade's AUS 8 is good). For under $25 getting G-10, a very solid lockback (I think Sal said they are right around high medium to low heavy duty in lock strength), and a good, easy to sharpen steel at 61 RC is hard to beat.

sal, i would be more than glad to test out a g10 crow. i feel its my obligation to such a great knife company, and thiers to such a great spyderco fan. i bought my first byrd today, a crow. and i am hooked. great stuff! keep it coming!

Sal, can you tell us (approximately) when will the new Byrds arrive? Actually I am looking forward to G-10 Flight, hope it will come soon ;-)

Thanks.

Sal; Even though I have several expensive folders, I seem to EDC my Byrd Crow most. I can hardly wait to get one in G10. How long before they hit the market?

I searched both Bladeforums and the Spyderco forums any recent mention of the G10 Flight, which I saw in the 2007 catalogue supplement. Is there any word on when that model will become available?

The G10 Flight is going to rock the world. Here we get excited over every spydie but the
G10 Byrds are going to win over a LOT of new converts. Is Spyderco falling behind?
Pretty silly question when they have snuck up on everyone and they still don't know it.

I am looking forward to the Byrd tool and credit card knife as well as the Byrd rescues.

Thanks for the update, Sal.

I'll start monitoring the major Spydie retailers... Neither Knifeworks nor New Graham show the G10 Flight in stock. :(

(I note New Graham has listed the Meadowlark and Cara Cara rescue models, but they're both out of stock... No surprise there! ;) )

No surprise at all! I think that I bought the last two Meadowlark Rescues and two Cara Cara Rescues yesterday. :D I like that partially serrated blade and wanted to grab spares while they were available. I am very eager to check them out.

Orange G10 would be very cool also, but maybe a yellow Byrd Rescue would be a nice compliment to the orange Spydercos?
