Shawn, my advice is to go and put your hands on whatever you are interested in before committing to it. Different opening systems, different locks, thicknesses, even appearance have all been important to every woman I've helped or bought knives for. If I pick it out without them it is likely to not get used and sits around in a drawer. I've gotten to the point I put a bunch of knives on the table and let her look to her hearts content and ask questions as needed. Not once have the woman chosen the same knife I have so I shut up unless asked.
