New Chick ;)

Shawn, my advice is to go and put your hands on whatever you are interested in before committing to it. Different opening systems, different locks, thicknesses, even appearance have all been important to every woman I've helped or bought knives for. If I pick it out without them it is likely to not get used and sits around in a drawer. I've gotten to the point I put a bunch of knives on the table and let her look to her hearts content and ask questions as needed. Not once have the woman chosen the same knife I have so I shut up unless asked. :)

Joe

welcome to bladeforums Shawn. :) I have to agree with Joe. handle a few in person and see what strikes your fancy.

The more knives you expose your hands and eyes to, the higher your expectations of your wants will it become and the greater amount of knives you will end up in your collection with.

Trust me, that's the story of my knife life. :p

If it doesn't work out with him, I'm single... i've been looking for a girl who likes knives forever

I'm a girl and my ZT 0801 is my EDC right now.. so no, they don't have to be girly.

Some "Girly" options though are:
Spyderco Dragonfly Tattoo
Spyderco Dragonfly Pink FRN
Spyderco Squeak Pink
Benchmade Mini Griptilian Pink
Kershaw Leek, Scallion, or Chive in Pink or Purple.
Buck Impulse Pink

These are just some.

Want the perfect set up?
Spyderco Squeak Pink - $49.95 on Blade HQ
Fisher Space Pen Pink Fuchsia Bullet - $17.20 On Blade HQ
Zippo Light Pink Matte Lighter - $13.50 on Blade HQ

This gives you a nice set up. Pens always come in handy and a nice one is a good thing to have. A lighter is ALWAYS a good thing to have on you, and Zippos are some of the nicest and best out there, and you'll be able to use it for years. The Squeak is an excellent knife, small, light, and perfect for every day carry and use. It has a good steel, no lock(but stays open by using the front finger groove(choil)), and has a deep carry clip perfect for pocket carry/

And the plus side... this whole set up is perfect, not just for beginners but for anyone who likes quality knives and gear, AND it'll all be $80.65.

If you decide on the Benchmade Mini Grip instead(another AWESOME blade), it'll still cost less than $100, coming up to $96.90.

I would go Benchmade Mini or Spyderco Squeak. I would go Squeak honestly, but you can't go wrong with the Mini Grip.
Good luck finding your blade.

Check out the Pink Spyderco Native as well, a bargain for the money.
