I do agree that looked weird. Maybe it had to do with that a polished lock bar would be slippery in operation. No clue. I owned a 21 with Bocote and that blasted part always bothered me. I guess maybe a distinction for those who collect and those who actually use the knife is why they are offering the two different finishes now?I never liked the look of the polished scales, especially the way that they left the lockbar blasted. Always looked odd to me. I'd say this seems like an improvement.
Boise , is a very very expensive place to live and have a business, and whiskey cost more , they have a novel business model, of let us crank out the SOS and pray CPM makes a different steel , magna was their new life ringMaybe they're just trying to stay competitive since the price of everything is increasing and they’re already at the higher end of their market segment?
I believe it has to do with heat treating the lockbar face. The bead blast covers the blemishes.I Maybe it had to do with that a polished lock bar would be slippery in operation.
From what I understand, they will still offer the polished finish, but it won't be the default anymore and will cost extra.I wonder if knives made with the older finish will become more desirable ....
You know the Umnumzaan has different thumbstuds, right? They work really well. While a fine knife, I will not purchase a CRK until they put a better designed thumbstud on, or at least make THAT an option.
What's been happening with the mnandi of late?Interesting seeing so many changes happen so relatively quickly for a knife company that was known for not changing. Going from the introduction of the 31 to the mnandi's rolling changes as well as the s45vn/3v switch, then to the possibility to magnacut being on the horizon, and now changes to the finish of the wood inlays. All within around two years.
