New Chris Reeve finish on titanium handles and standard blades

This is disappointing. I like the polished finish on my Sebenza. Kind of sets it apart from the rest of the lineup.
You will still be able to get one with the polished finish. The blasted finish will now be the standard finish but you can still get the polished finish. Granted it will cost a little more.

I guess the polished finish on the Mnandi is history too. What a shame, I like the polished finish on my Mnandi.

What's been happening with the mnandi of late?
They released a new version of the Mnandi at the beginning of the year. The biggest change is the thumb groove is now an actual hole, so 1- or 2-handed opening are both easy. Blade steel was changed to S45VN. Instead of the full polish, the flats are now "ultra-fine" bead blasted and the chamfers and edges are "satin polished." Given how little of the flats you can actually see, it's hard to make out any difference in pictures.

Anne got the company in the divorce and Tim is running it (poorly IMO) now. I thought this was well known.

You can't replace one man's obsession with quality/specs with a well wishing family member and expect you'll get the same products.

In my non-CRK owning mind, these knives are Sebenza's but they are certainly not Chris Reeve's Sebenzas. That used to mean something.

Yes, I saw that after I posted. I’m ok with that even if it means paying a little more.

i've came across this rumor countless times over here, but i tried to verify this with a CRK employee on the phone, they told me he retired.

I don’t see what the problem is, if you want polished, you can have polished you just have wait longer. If you don’t you can get blasted and have your knife faster. Did I miss something?
Ive owned 5 umnumzaans in the last 6 years. 2 were from when Chris was still there, 3 are from the Tim/Anne era. The quality of the newer ones has not deviated at all in my opinion.
Now I will say the 31 was definitely a blunder. The bugs should have been worked out before it was released. Hopefully they will get that all squared away for good.

According to publicly available documents, he officially resigned as Director and President of Reeve Incorporated in October 2014. The divorce finalized in December 2014. It seems like it took another year or two for CRK to start publicizing that Anne was the one running things.

The new $75 dollar premium for a polished blade that used to be standard?

Ya I missed that. Literally everything is rising in cost right now. CRK ain’t the only company raising the prices on their products.
It's the frame that's no longer polished. Blade finish is the same.

So grateful for a new CRK is going downhill thread.I was so over the 31 lock rock controversy.

According to the copy of CRK post on page 1, the blade will now be stonewashed. They were either polished or a hybred polished with stonewashed flats before, except for the micarta which was normally stonewashed blade and bead blast scales
I have no problem with these changes, but just can't get into the 31 in general-can't please everyone :)

Yet another whine and moan uncle Randy thread. People have been clamoring for years for the wood inlay knives to have the blasted finish. But leave it to BF to wail to high heaven about it.

The simple truth is that CRK knives are better now than they were when Chris was running it. Better steel, better heat treat, better sharpening, better options, better everything. The only reason not to acknowledge this is the sadly popular attitude of embittered nostalgia. If that's your bag, enjoy the echo chamber. I'll enjoy the superior knives as they continue to be refined. 🤗

I can agree on the better version of their heat treatment, the newer knives are better, unfortunately there are thousands of safe queens that are floating around and hitting the market that have wonky blade steel

I'm a fan of the blasted option on the wood inlays. I will now buy an inlaid option.
I'm a fan of the consistent and higher HRC on the s35vn.
I'm a fan of the switch to s45vn.
I'm a fan of the ceramic ball interface.

I prefer the 2 piece inlay of the 21.
I kinda miss the hole in the handle of the 21.
I wish they were gonna offer 4v at 62 or greater HRC.

Overall CRK is doing alright in my book.
