I stumbled onto 2 new Bucks that look interesting. They are an upcoming exclusive release for one store, for now. I verified with the good folks at Buck that they are legitimate and not counterfeits. Both are imported and are models 252 cleaver and 259 with carbon fiber. Just thought I would post some photos I borrowed from the auction site.

252 cleaver

259 Carbon Fiber

Don't like the Cleaver style blade at all and they're both too long to carry comfortably in my pocket even with a clip.

Even though 99.99% of Bucks I have are USA made I will get one of the new Cleaver's if for no other reason than the blade shape is really odd. The VA sends me blood pressure meds that I have to cut in half and that Buck might work well for that chore. I wonder if the blade geometry might work for a 112 swap??

The bottom one sure looks like something I've seen before, but maybe it's just similar to a knife from spyderco or whoever.
My first thought was a Zero Tolerance model. Just the way the carbon fiber looks and the design of the pivot more so than the blade.

The cleaver looks much too similar to the plethora of recent Gerber cleavers (Fastball cleaver, Flatiron, and Asada) and the 259 looks like any number of offerings from CRKT or ZT. Big swing and a miss for me unfortunately and it seems a little late to be pandering to the latest cleaver fad.

I just had surgery a few days ago and I'm in a bit of pain, so maybe that's making me more negative than usual but I've been kind of disappointed with some of the more recent developments at Buck. :(

Take care Buddy.
I hope things work out well for you!

Just an update. Buck has named the 252 cleaver the "Trunk". The model 259 carbon fiber knife is called the "Haxby". There are also two more new models that showed up:

The 254 Odessa - a flipper framelock.

And the 256 Decatur - a flipper linerlock.

Post #7 has the exclusive dealer listed if interested in checking these knives out.

They’d really, really do themselves good making some of these in the USA. I understand they have always stood the test of time. But it would be nice to see some of those offerings in USA versions with good steel variations.

The new Buck flippers have arrived at retailers... thought about checking them out until I saw the steel is 7Cr. A non-starter for me. I'm not a steel snob, either, but you have to draw the line SOMEWHERE. And for me, nothing lower than 8Cr13Mov and AUS8.

I know this thread is three months old, but I've been waiting to comment until they were actually available.

Just for discussion, what is the target market & use for that blade?
Not a hunting knife so what?
There are purpose made pill cutters that would be easier.
It’s probably just to satisfy the odd blade shape crowd. Like bucksway says, Idk, a pill splitter is about all I can think of. There’s a few other things I won’t mention. Lol.
