New Cold Steel Products For 2016.

Lotta FBs. I keep looking at the word "Cinquedea"

Thats this thing:

CS is gonna make this... Aha! Aha-ha!

Just curious here, CS has a long history of making historically based swords and daggers...is there something about this one that's funnier than the Crab Claw Dagger, Scottish dirk, Colichmarde Dagger, etc or do you just find them doing historical weapons at all to be funny?

I mean, yeah, all these swords and historical daggers and halberds and warhammers are basically useless these days, but I don't think this one stands out as being more absurd than the others...

I dont think that was meant as laughter. More of like the sound aha that you make when you realize something.

Is this the final list? I was hoping for more new folders......

As I stated (corrected) in post #5:

Here are the confirmed upcoming 2016 folders so far (there might be more, have to wait-and-see for sure):

Broken Skull, with six different color choices. Pictures are shown on the Knife Center link I have added to post #1.

Colossus, in two versions, satin or DLC-coated blade. Again, there are picture links in post #1.

Lucky One, with a single blade.

Pro-Lite, a new version of a previous model from over a decade ago.

Looks like the Lone Star Hunter with DLC, and G10 handles. That would be cool, as it would bring another FFG folder to Cold Steel's line to keep the Talwar company.

Something eerie I came across while listening to the SCSA Podcast with Lynn. He said "The Lone Star -- is it okay if I call it the Lone Star?" After weighing factors, such as this Broken Skull being, in form, the exact same knife as the Lone Star. I take this to mean that it was this blade he was talking about, and that it will be replacing the Lone Star. Could just be my inquiring nature to read and listen passed what I read and hear (good talent to have in this day and age, a topic for another place and time... what I sound like: ).

That being said, I dig it. The white one looks like a utility knife a Stormtrooper would carry. I would pick up the Coyote in a buh-bum buh-bum.

Scroll down to "EP269 - Lynn Thompson of Cold Steel", its at the 1:10:48 mark the podcast quote I mentioned, if you wanna gauge it for yourself.

Oh no, I respect all forms of weaponry, just that this thing I can't see being that popular. Alright truth be told, it was laughter, Kakefat, this particular weapon always tickled me.

I think they should make a Warbrand Sword:

This design would put their Messer and Greatsword to great shame. And they won't have to nut and epoxy a pommel onto it. FPT: Full profile tang.

Well, if stuff like the Gunstock War Club and the Warhammer and the Halberds sell I imagine this one will too. Some people are into historical weaponry, and CS is one of the few companies making it. Not personally a cinquedea fan myself, but who knows.

They're fun, it doesn't matter if they're useless in todays world. Thats what i like most about cold steel. They don't take themselves too seriously, and put out quality toys for responsible adults. Who else is going to sell me a functional plastic club or sharpened shovel for around 30 bucks?

I don't consider these weapons useless. Cold Steel's primary target audience is martial artists. HEMA practitioners, fencers and kenjutsuka I'm sure have a solid appreciation for these products.

I consider them useless because they are designed and sold as weapons in a world where any joe on the street can get a gun. Actual HEMA practitioners and fencers really aren't actually that big a market, and most of the Cold Steel stuff is a lot more likely to be bought by people like me, ie, people who like them cause they're fun to own, rather than because they serve an actual purpose. Also, on that topic, many of Cold Steel's swords(including the one I own) are notably heavier than the historical swords they are meant to represent-if you look at HEMA forums, you'll find generally speaking, the Cold Steel weapons are NOT highly regarded. The general consensus is "it will be okay until you can save up for something better". But for me, a $600 sword isn't any more useful than a $250 sword, so I buy the Cold Steel. Am I ever going to use my Scottish Broadsword in battle? No, no I'm not. Not like I'm gonna be walking around with a sword at my waist, and if I think someone is breaking into my house and I run to grab a weapon...I'm not running to grab the sword, I'm running for the 12 gauge. Likewise, the vast majority of people aren't gonna be cutting or stabbing anything with the historical swords and daggers outside of water/soda bottles, watermelons, or hunks of meat in their backwards. To me, that makes them fun, and I own some of it myself, but still pretty much useless.

Exactly, a lot of this stuff is just fun.

Lynn says regarding the Greatsword to "leave one of these by your front door" and "you're gonna be a power to recon with" and that "NO ONE will be able to take advantage of you" HEMA - Hew Every Man Alive. JK.

I have updated the first post with MSRPs of most of the new products.

There is still very little information on most of these new products so far.

They have only listed the names and MSRPs on most of them for now.

There are a couple of new folders that weren't listed before.

The 2016 Cold Steel catalog will be released over the next few months. They don't have a consistent schedule for posting it.

They usually start posting the new products on their website during the SHOT Show.

Updated to add:

The most current information is at the Knife Center link I have placed in post #1.

They still have a lot of stuff to add to it too. So keep checking everyday for updates.

Early February is when they say they will do the official annoucements.

Looks like it will be another great year for Cold Steel products.

Wow, i hope the rest of their stuff looks as good as that one. Thats one of the least cold steel looking knives (that is still clearly a cold steel) I've seen from them.
