New Cooper Cutlery knives?

I would say its more of a disappointment with a company that was to revitalize the Schatt and Morgan name, only to have put out overpriced poorly constructed knives with some interesting shield choices. But I'm glad they're producing knives and hope they can find a way to be successful, but I think they need to pick up their game if they're going to survive.

old boomers mad about things changing. Who would have guessed 🤷? I personally happen to be a med card holding vet who has had a slipjoint in my pocket since age 4. being close minded won’t help in any business.
No clue how that's your read of this discussion. If there's any frustration here it's over a company charging premium prices for a shoddily made product that wasn't ready for prime time. They needed to label these knives as factory seconds or something and offer a steep discount if selling at all. Just my two cents.

I definitely agree with you there. As long as this is a one time offense, and they fix there quality from here on.

So did this venture survive ? I haven’t seen anything new from them . Maybe just some left over stock that didn’t sell still available .

They have done two releases, the latest being a few months ago with the battle axe shield, which seemed of similar poor quality to their weed branded release. Unfortunate as it would be nice to have another quality American made option in the market.

Is this the same group as Blue Grass Cutlery? Incidentally, how are their products?

Best regards,

Am I missing something, or does their website show twelve brands and no available products?
Maybe the brand names are for sale.

It is strange, the number of brands, considering that GEC, which I assume / hope they are trying to emulate has about 4 and also has several employees.

I sent Cooper Cutlery a note inquiring about their future offerings and they kindly responded with this:

Weed and Co. and Battle Axe Trappers and Hunters are currently outgoing and will continue through the next few months. Big Chief just released our version of the Diver Knife - Solid Frame Design. More Weed and Company, Cooper Cutlery and Battle Axe are upcoming with Schatt and Morgan coming after.

I'm still looking forward to the S&M renaissance.

Best regards,

Isn't the Big Chief name owned by SMKW now? They are listing the Big Chief under the Queen Cutlery name......and as being made in China....

Isn't that curious? The Cooper Big Chief shares some similarities with the Queen. Also, the MSRP on Cooper's knife is around 35 bucks but is claimed to be made in USA with domestic and imported parts. There's too much weirdness surrounding Cooper's efforts, it's pushing me further and further away.

Interesting, I don’t know how it all sorts out. Here’s the certificate that comes with the Cooper Cutlery knife. I assumed it was just part of the name trademarks they purchased years ago.

Was going to order it but I don't want to be the guinea pig on this one. I hope the very best for Cooper Cutlery and hope they are getting better with every single knife they produce.

I would have to say i agree with you. They have so much potential it would be really cool if they could build up to be a competitor to GEC quality-wise but so far that doesn't seem to be the case. I grabbed one of the weed knives out of curiosity and because I think it's ridiculous, and I have to say, I've got some much cheaper knives in my collection that are much better quality for not even half the price.

what exactly do we call the cooper big chief blade? and is that curve supposed to be there? or is that poor sharpening?
