I've got two Miller Modded Arc-AAAs coming in this week with Crees in them. 1.5W & .50mAh on one, and 1.25W & 25mAh on the other. I cannot WAIT to try them out, I've been conditioning some Sanyo 1000s for a couple of weeks, getting them ready.

Geez, when will it ever end? As if I didn't already have enough toys to spend money on. Knives, guns, midget porn, and now high tech LED lights too?

I already have Surefires, model L4(2), model L2, model L5.

Not to mention all the incan lights I have.

Thanks for the heads up UVT- very interesting- and probably just in time to help outfit the Fatboy that Santa's bringing!

Looks like CPF has been down for a few days now.

BTW, in addition to my SureFire torches, I got a Photon Internationals CR2 Ion, Arc AAA Pro, and on order, the Orb Raw. I just like to be prepared nowadays since we've been having some power outages frequently in my neighborhood and because of the recent earthquakes that cause some power outages here on the island.

I'm keeping my eye on the Cree XR-E LED.

I've been able to get on CPF and post over the past few days withOUT any problems -
other than an occassional notice that the server was too busy try later.

(if you can manage to open any of the links I gave, you can see numerous posts in those threads over the past few days -
eg: this thread -

I've seen these LEDs in person (though not in flashlight form) and they are amazing.

Here's another one - I just received a flashlight from Pelican. I have a Surefire G2 which is very handy but wanted better battery life. The Pelican 3330 is the size of the G2 but has a Luxeon LED, 2 -123A batteries and a similar plastic body .I prefer plastic lights because they are safer around electricity ! The Luxeon puts out about half of the brightness of the G2 But the battery life is much better. The specs say 40 hours but this is till total darkness. The instructions say light is significantly reduced after 4 hours.... Just one more light to choose ,from the thousands out there !!!

can't wait for someone to incorporate the XR-E into a rugged, tactical design. Gladius would be sweet in that flavor.

For some reason I have had really poor luck for several years on CPF forum, it just doesn't seem to like firefox at least for me.

Anyway I check in every year or two and pick up what's new (and relatively cheap).

Here are some rather telling beamshots -

Fenix P1D-CE comparison Review

Outdoors (Pampas Grass) Beamshots -
Please look at "Practical" Beamshots? pt.2 (outdoors) for details of the settings etc. as well as other flashlights which should be directly comparable.

Fenix P1D-CE High ................................................................. SureFire 9P (xenon, 3x CR123)
FenixP1DCE.jpg
pampasSF9P.jpg

I thought the new Fenix P1D-CE with Cree XR-E seemed brighter than the devastating SureFire 9P - Xenon 3x CR123......
BUT the difference in color/tint may make the call harder.

So remembering a technique I had used previously, I removed the colors by destaturating the beamshots - so one can compare the black and white images for the brightness levels -

Desaturated/Color Removed Images -
Fenix P1D-CE .................................................. ...................... SureFire 9P (xenon, 3x CR123)

Indoors Stairway Beamshots -
Please see "Practical" Beamshots? for details of the settings etc. as well as other flashlights which should be directly comparable.

Fenix P1D-CE RCR123 High ................................ SureFire 9P (xenon 3x CR123)

Again the different color/tints makes the call harder -

This may mean there might be some problem between your ISP/network and CPF's network?

I've been on all week with no problems. It might be that someone with an ISP number similar to yours has been blocked, thus your ISP is also blocked.

CPF and Ebay are about the only cool toy related sites I can still get onto at work nowadays. I've spent a lot of time on CPF recently and never have had any problems getting on.

I can get on cpf marketplace and the cpf lifeline site. According to the lieline site it might have to do with RoadRunner from Time Warner Cable. There was a poster on lifeline who was also from NC that couldn`t get on.

My new Pelican 3330 I just got this morning .Tonight I was asked to check on an elderly neighbor .I had to use the new light for a few things there ! When the ambulance left I did other things and needed the flashlight for those things also !! A handy size ,brightness, and battery life combination -I'm keeping it !!
