In my logic, the Sebenza is a titanium handled folder.

CF is not titanium, so this is not a Sebenza.

Maybe they should call it the Carbonza.:D

I would rather have a CF inlayed Regular. Maybe. If they used lightning strike CF.

Kind regards,

Jos

I have to admit, I like the CF scales on my, ahem, excuse me here, Benchmade 480-1 Shoki better (See below.). My small Sebbie looks fine as a plain Jane. I do prefer my StarTac Umnumzaan's pattern over that of the basic 'zaan's.

The Damascus is handsome, I'll warrant you that - but the S30V/S35VN is so much more utilitarian - definitely a user blade. Perhaps a large Sebbie or 'zaan - with Damascus - and inlaid CF - would make a great 'looker'. I'd be tempted... tempted to use it, too. Pretty knives. But - that new Shoki is cute - blue anodized Ti liners with CF scales on top, file worked backspacer, black chromed hardware, Bohler m390 blade steel, NakLoc, aka button released liner lock, and included leather sheath - at far less than a plain Jane small Sebbie. The fit & finish really are quite good, even if it isn't a CRK. Worth a look, if you like CF - and 'Gent's' knives.

The Sebenza is a titanium frame lock folder. Even with the addition of the carbon fiber scale, it still locks up bank vault solid. Add to that the descreased weight, and the visual appeal of carbon fiber (which I know is subjective), and I think CRK hit a homerun with this one. My large numbered hasn't left my pocket since it arrived. If you thought the full ti 21 carried well, the large CF practically dissapears in the pocket. I applaud CRK for moving in a different direction and I just hope this carries over to other aspects of their knife designs.

FWIW and IIRC, CF is actually stiffer than Ti.

I have no doubts about the quality of the "Carbonza". It just doesn't float my boat. :)

Kind regards,

Jos

Have #18! Its a beauty! Polished CF! I love it!! Think they still have some, get em while you can!!

I think that the only why you can judge something is by actually owning and using it, that said I just received my CF Sebenza in the mail yesterday and it is Awesome. The first thing I noticed was the CF scale and it's beautiful (quality is pure Chris Reeve), second is the weight, it many be only 1oz lighter but feels much lighter than that, love the balance. They're not cheap but if you can afford one buy it and You be the Judge, if you don't agree with me there's always the Exchange, I'm sure some one will be more than happy to take it off you hands.

Mine (#50 of 50) came back from CRK yesterday, and now sports double silver thumb lugs, with matching silver spacer and lanyard pin. All of my Sebenzas, except for my LEs, have double silver thumb lugs. Given the carbon fiber scale of this particular one, the silver parts definitely work better, perhaps for the same reason that silver parts are standard on the Black Canvas Micarta inlaid Sebenzas.

Sorry, no photos yet. Too many irons in the fire at the moment.

Anyway, one of the main benefits of this knife is that you get the size and strength of the Large Sebenza, but at a reduced weight, approaching that of the Small Sebenza.

I'm with Jos on this one, as it's a beautiful knife, but not my thing. One of the things I like most about my Sebs/Umnums has been the all Ti handles. In fact, I sold my Hinderers and Striders in the past due to their lack of all Ti handles. Plain Jane Ti is the only flavour I really like.

Luckily Rick has fixed the lack of titanium issue for all of us... I personally think carbon fiber makes for a different and interesting option and will probably get one when I can.

Yeah, I know and am trying to decide if the added associated costs are worth it to me to get another one. With the added Ti scale, the XM certainly becomes more appealing to me.
