New Cut Projects

Quinton- I also like the rivet post button studs over the screw base studs. I am out now and could only find the screw base ones on the internet. Have you bought any rivet base lately and where? Again, the whole package is outstanding.

10mm base or 8mm base? And do you use a buttonhole punch or just a standard leather punch and a knife?
The ones that I have are, a 5/16ths button, 7/16ths base, and are 1/2" tall. I just used a leather punch and knife. If you get the rivet type you will need to make a setting tool to install them otherwise you will mess the ball up. I used a 1"X 1" X 6" piece of hickory with a 5/16" hole drilled into the end, and just deep enough to contact the base of the stud.

S.P.-- Quinton's sheath shows the stud system I like. As for the bottom entry saddle sheath I mentioned, as I remember, it was in the photos of my 18c axes that you kindly posted for me beside a 20c boys axe that I included for size comparison. But, that one had a buckle instead of a snap or stud.

Thanks again, Bernie.. I'm old school as well.

I got mine from a vendor on eBay. I don't know how to post a link from my eBay app, but just searching for "Sam Browne button" will yield several sources.

Maybe it's these? Seems to sell an anvil also.

Not much of a leather worker myself but I will be going to the local Tandy store Wednesday, I will see if they have them.

Your work is beautiful Quinton. I think I have a few boxes of Kleanbore ammo around here also. Think it's been a minute or two since they made that stuff.

Love the little Bluegrass, local hardware sold them back in my childhood. I used to hunt with our chief of police and he carried an absolute mint example of the mini Bluegrass hatchet in his pack to take care of deer in the field. It never dawned on me at the time that things that were so common place in my younger days would become so sought after. I hate to be a vulture but I may mention the little hatchet to him next time I see him.

Yep!
I wish I could go back to the 2 hardware stores of my youth. Both sold Bluegrass tools.

Thanks!
