NEW Demko Shark Lock & AD-20

knifejoy; they were gone in a few hrs dlt is supposed to get some too

The only thing you change is when holding in saber grip, you put your thumb on the lock tab which is further than where i would usually put my thumb at for this grip.

As these come in, I’d like to know what you guys think of the Shark Lock ergonomics in the saber grip. From pictures it looks like I would want to step my thumb over the lock. Doesn’t look like it’s in the ideal position to be a thumb ramp.

Lucky me! ergos are fantastic... no issues with the position of the Shark Lock so far. It DOES take a day of fidgeting to develop a slight callus on the tip of your index finger before it becomes less painful to use though. Choking up on the blade it's extremely comfortable and the jimping on the spine are perfectly positioned and machined beautifully. I got mine with the 20CV blade but i'm toying with the idea of a spare blade in 3v. Tempting since this will probably be a forever knife.

Do you find it likely to accidentally disengage the lock if your thumb goes over it?

Nope! You can actually disengage the lock about 10% and still be secure---not tight, but it won't let the blade drop. You have to be pretty intentional with pulling back and lifting up on the lock (bar?) for the blade to fully disengage.

Bad new for me, because I think I need one.

^ you gotta get one theyre great. I knew it would be a winner.I sold some other knives to cover it well worth it.

@DemkoKnives , since you've been active on the A2 thread, was hoping you could also chime in here and let us know if there's a plan to offer a CS version of this, and if so, an estimated timeframe?

Also, someone had mentioned you were looking to do a 3" version too, is that correct? That would probably be the one I'm most interested in.

I bought the G10/20cv version first, received the 3v/ti this morning, like it quite a bit more! The spring tension on the lock is a fair bit lighter, and overall the knife seems smoother. I'm also liking the lack of the blade hole!

Anyone snag a recent knifecenter batch? Apparently they went fast.

I was lucky enough to purchase one off of a member here. Hasn't arrived yet, but I'm looking forward to it in the next week or so.

Its very hard to get one from a dealer, you have to know when approximately they are going to arrive and then check the site 2-3 times a day. thats how i got mine. I got the last one they had, luckily it was exactly what i wanted. And it had a solid blade and 3v steel, which i thought was a big plus.Seems like they sell out within a few short hours .I even signed up for an alert, but they sell so quick it doesnt seem to work.

 Never chase a bus , a women , or a knife ...there's always another one , usually a better one , coming along soon enough ! :p

Ha, I like the blade hole! You said the tension is lighter, is the G10 one hard to unlock?

I wouldn't say hard, but the difference was enough to cause a fair bit of discomfort in use, the blade action was fine, and the lock would probably have broken in and lightened up in time. All said the ti version, zero discomfort and much nicer in use.

I don't think it has anything to do with steel liners versus just running on the ti scales, more then likely just an overly stiff spring. Kind of difficult to judge by a single example of each.

Still trying to get one of these suckers, especially the titanium one!

At this point I may just wait for cold steel to actually come out with one lol

I did the same thing - got a G10 version, then the Ti version without the hole (to balance the heavier scale). Only difference is that both mine are 3V blades and the Ti one has smooth stonewashed scales. I also agree on liking the Ti one more (and I already liked the G10 one a lot!). As I was buying it, I was telling myself "this is ridiculous, you'll regret spending all this money on essentially the same knife". But it seems a little more special in person. It's nicely balanced right on the first finger (G10 is a bit blade-heavy), feels a bit smoother, and the scales are a bit thinner, which improves the ergos for me. I got the smooth-scale version because I was thinking about the possibility of having some custom engraving work done, but with the handle shape it still feels very secure in the hand.

My guess is they’ll keep making these for some time and with a little patience they’ll be very obtainable. Suggest you follow the Facebook or Twitter pages of a couple of the main retailers for updates. I just happened to see a bunch were dropping at DLT. That’s how I got the Ti one this week.
