Steven, lmao with that comment. I am a total newcomer to knife collecting, and even newer to forums. This is just Day 2 on forums, here and JD.

Hello Josh,
My quip was an inside joke, directed at Joe Paranee, Matt and David Mirabile.
1. Skelton was a watch guy on QVC/Home Shopping. As far as I am concerned, he is a self-promoting carpetbagger who found a niche in producing knife videos, and because he has that platform, can improve or decrease a maker's business.
He is NOT what we would call "Knife People".
2. The affliction you suffer from is common here, and if you are saying that you have spent $20,000 on knives, it's a nice start.
Many of us on this side of knives have spent that on one knife, but to be honest, I have not.
Am more in the $5,000-$7,000 maximum per piece. I don't really want to think about how much I have tied up in knives over the years, as the figure is likely to be shocking, especially to my wife!
Continue your research and enjoy the knives. Matt's work is up there with the best of them. As you acquire hands on knowledge and experience, it is likely your taste will change and you will desire different pieces.
Try to buy with an eye for the long term, and try not to lose money. If you buy at retail prices, even at "street", unless the piece is limited edition and sought after, you are likely to lose money.
In the ebb and flow of collecting, the goal is to enjoy it, and not take a fiscal bath on your hobby, as that causes bitterness in most, and they leave.
Best Regards,
STeven Garsson
