New dogwood full size firefly handles.

How well does the larger handled Firefly handle and wear for long duration use?

I think the Blue one will go on the BK 5 for large critter cutting purposes and the clear on either the spare 2 or spare 9. If long term bare handed handling is ok, it might go on the 4.

I know you asked knifejunkie I hope you do not mind my 2 cents. we have been using firefly on custom knives for 5+ year with no problems. We made the full-size becker firefly handles as close to identical to the original in shape and texture as technology is capable of so that the feel in the hand will be equally identical.

I have been beating on them ever since I got them and they have been holding up great!

I keep moving them from my bk4 to my bk9 to my bk20. They have been scraping in and out of kydex sheaths with sand on them.

I'd say they have great durability on par with the factory scales if not better.

Thanks Dogwood Dan and knifejunkie1928!

I was wondering on how long term I mean more than hours of working with them work in the hand (I mean bare handed). One of the many over thinkings of things I do when getting things. I micartaed most my Beckers for long term use and if had to go barehanded for a while, or help with grip with gloves when needed.

I never doubted their hand fit or durability, the Review I read on them put that doubt from my mind. Yes I'll probably nick or gouge them with a deflection or near miss with the pommel and such but that will be the dumb user's doings. The soda and superglue trick should work on them I think to patch them up.

The handles are (Um...I need to check again... looks like an epoxy resin from the site (Don't know of that makes them a plastic or not, I plead Ignoramass on that one)) GeofS, and a good article from DavidCAndersen who did a Truth About Knives Article on them. http://www.thetruthaboutknives.com/2017/07/review-firefly-becker-scales-by-dogwood-custom-knives/

Oh nice and thanks for the pics!

Now I'm really glad I ordered the blue one!

I'm getting ones while my money is still mine to spend! I don't see these as bling accessories, yes it ups "The total cost" of the knife in the end. But I did it over time and had a lot of thoughts of what I needed on the spare blades I got when I could. One was practical, two is a but splurging but eh' now two knives can be "night knives".

I haven't bought a Becker in a year I think because I grabbed some when I could...before the car died. The Becker things I been buying have been handle scales over the year hear and there.

I hope Dogwood Dan sells a lot of them, they are more than literal accessory shiny bling you put on your knife I think! Even if they look cool!

GOT'EM to day!

Oh they are nice, they seem they will be more solid that the Grivory handles. I got them "Charging" in the window right now, I'm tempted to put one on the BK 4 that has micarta on. They will make great critter cutting knife handles, yes I lost a few knives at night with snow on the ground after finding the evening victim. I guess I'll have to swap them around when the need dictates it.

So far the BK 5 will get the blue and the BK 2 will get the clear. Or the spare BK 9 will get the blue...

Thank you I am glad you like them! I hope they serve you well for at least a lifetime. If you would you mind sending some pics I like to post user pics to our IG account.

Oh and thanks Dogwood Dan for the way you sent the postage refund for when I bought two handles. ;)

OK you want aesthetics and colors go with the colored handles. They still shine pretty goodly.

You want maximum light bright effect. Get Clear.

Or get what ya want! Yes they are cool, yes they are unique, yes they are shiny (in the dark), yes they are a great accessory, but yes they have a great function and practicality. Best of every thing there.

The Fire Fly Handles seem to be a bit some what grippy when wet. Which is GOOD because the zytel ones got slickery when wet for me. So my conjecture was right, that the Firefly handles are going to work great for critter cutting blades. No literal bloody Micarta to clean, grippy enough and when putting the knife down to flop a bigger critter over to drain, no danger of loosing the knife, from it getting some how misplaced during the moving things when it gets dark. Probably G-10 handles would also be good for critter gut'n and cut'n knives, but these glow, look nice and glow an will be easier to find when some how it gets misplaced around the big mess you make.

Thank you I am glad they are working for you. I always like to hear feedback from end users, If you get a chance I would love to see some pics.

OK more than once it saved me having to look and look and look and look for a knife, only thing that might not me help find them if my brother takes one.

Blue and green glow stones look pretty good, but the clear and green glow stones make a brighter shine! Blue and green glow stones not that much bad either. Check out Dogwood's site for the picture of them glowing.
