New Doug Ritter folder

How long did they say till it would be ready to ship?

In the other thread that got locked Doug said they should be "shipping soon" but there wasn't a firm date as to when they would ship. My confirmation does't say either when exactly they will ship.

Just a guess but I am betting they start going out on Monday as they work through all of the serialized pre-orders and move into the general production ones.

I always found the large Griptillian grips kind of bulky for pocket carry.

I thought the same. Then I EDC'd a BM Adamas in my pocket. That knife right there put everything else in perspective. After that, full size grip, not so bad.

Yea I had a period where I carried a Strider GB. My other knives seemed small after I carried that. Regardless, my ideal size for day to day carry is around the size of my Delica, Bugout, Dividend, or Intrigue.

Good cuz I've got a bugout inbound, gonna try that one out. The 940, 484 & my PM2 seem to sit well in the pocket. Probably why I've kept them. You just have to polish those thumb studs on the 484.

Also wearing shorts is a bit different. I did not like my full size grip with AWT scales in my shorts pocket. Shorts tend to flap around with a certain weight clipped to the pocket.

Doug nor benchmade designed this knife. Credit to the actual designer is not given. A response to this has not been given. Shame on Doug and hogue.

I don't want to get everybody so riled up this thread gets locked.
Is it true this blade shape, thinness behind the edge etc is Ritter's design ?
Then the rough basic handle out line is a Benchmade Griptillian

So that leaves for the uncredited designer to come up with, among other things, the texture on the handle, the lock, fitting the lock to the blade and handle . . .
am I getting that right ?

Blade is ritter. Handle is not him or BM. If you own an original grip, look on the blade for the designer.

The grip is the claim to fame with a griptilian, it's in the name. Adding a hump here and some lines there doesn't change the fact that you aren't giving credit to a current designer for a design you are using.

I'm inclined to agree. I was excited about the prospect of a new Ritter, but this isn't that. It's just legal maneuvering that results in the same knife from a different company.

I'm sure it's all on the up and up legally and I certainly appreciate the work Doug has done for the knife community, but I think I'll probably pass on this one. It's just not enough of a departure from the Benchmade version. Especially since Doug didn't design the whole thing.

Give credit to Wilson Combat for the sun burst design! Oh wait, give credit to the sun....no, give credit to the universe, yes the universe takes credit! Wait...no that's not right...wait...

Oh silly me, it's God. It's his credit. Mah bad.

Thank you God for creating the sun, all the people at Wilson Combat, BM, Doug Ritter, Osborne, the lollipop guild, my neighbor Sam (love ya bro!), my family, all those who supported me...(background music starts)...thanks to my producers, (music gets louder), thanks to my make up artist, the backstage people...(cuts to commercial).

As I stated when I closed the other Ritter knife thread, there is insufficient information to come to a conclusion about the proprieties. So anything voiced as to the propriety of having someone other than BM make the knife is an opinion.

Opinions are like belly buttons. Everyone has one. And whether yours is an inny or an outy, your opinion does not make anyone else's opinion "wrong".

Whatever else it is or isn't, it certainly seems like a missed opportunity.

Having an opinion is marvelous! I love em! It has to be one of the seven wonders of the world...including chocolate. Without opinions, we'd be speaking the "Queens english" or God forbid, "German". Danke! But when you omit the little acronym "IMO"...it starts to turn everything ugly. And Gawd don't like ugly!

Viva La "IMO"!!!

Thanks for the good laugh haha.

At any rate, I really like the looks of this, I plan to get one at some point.

My main gripe with the Griptilian has always been the handle thickness near the blade. I just looked at the picture at knifework and it looks like the Gen2 has a thinner handle which is great.
