So my wife is one of those ladies that redecorates the house for every season and holiday. Now it is a family tradition that on Labor day weekend my grown children and grandchildren pretty much stay at our house helping their mom bring all the fall decorations from the basement into the house and they are put up as the summer stuff is packed up and stored in the basement. I am in charge of the grill and feeding the masses which is not only a lot of work but very expensive for 18 people and of course Ann wants to feed her babies rib eyes. It is also a time of deep cleaning the house and nobody escapes Ann's direction. Thus begins the busiest time of year for these activities as the holidays roll through and the decorations change. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and so on. This year I was ordered to store all my knives and musical equipment in a spare bedroom, So the last several days have been spent sharpening, oiling pivots and applying Ren wax and safely tucking my knives away as well as guitars, amps stands, digital recorder, drum machine and so on. I am allowed to leave one acoustic guitar and a small canvas bag for a few EDC knives in the living room. In my little canvas bag I have 10 knives to rotate and use until after the first of the year. The contents of my bag will grow as purchases are made in fact I have a Queen #41 Copperhead and a #14 Boy's knife coming next week. Here are the knives I chose to keep out and use over the next few months plus a Blur in Elmax steel that I won't picture for respect to the traditional rules. I am curious if I can do this without breaking into my stored knives and retrieving something else to carry and also how many new knives will be added to my little canvas bag. How about posting some pictures of the knives you use in your daily use rotation I am very curious as to what you folks use.

TAKING EVERYTHING IOUT OF MY POCKETS TONIGHT I HAD FORGOT ABOUT THE SCHRADE 5OT IN MY POCKET SO I GUESS I HAVE 10 KNIVES IN MY ROTATION.

GREAT story and knives Randy:cool::thumbup:

You have pretty much all the blades needed for your "through the holiday" rotation.

I have about two dozen knives on the end table next to me. I should pick out a rotation similar in number to yours and try the same thing. I'll never ever be a ONE knife guy but this would be doable;)

Ribeyes! I'll help decorate for a ribeye! Medium rare please. :D:D

I actually don't own a knife that I don't carry at some point or another.

Though,

Im trying to get to around a 14 knife rotation with around another 6 for special occasions. I have 4 of the 6 special occasion knives and 11 of the 14 main rotations. So Im only 5 away from my knife goal.

Here are the special occasion knives. I only need 2 more to hit my goal.

Here is my main rotation. The stag 73 and 81 get carried the most. I have two 72s and a TC 14 barlow on the way that will be included in this group. I only need 3 more to hit my desired 14 knife rotation.

I also have 2 modern knives for "work" purposes and 2 modern for special occasions that I can not mention details on.

Enjoy the time with family my friend. Let me know when the ribeyes are ready.

Looks like you have all the bases covered with the knives you set aside! As for the decorating, it sounds like a good family bonding experience and tradition:thumbup:

Randy, that Boker Saddlehorn is amazingly beautiful. I really love the blade combo, bolsters and cover. Here is my small rotation that actually gets real pocket time. The beer scout and seahorse whittler were both purchased off of blade forums members, and I'm looking forward to my 73 on the way from Brett above to add into the rotation :D

I love that Dogs head Ka-bar in yellow! Sawcut? Fantastic rotation. I am horrible at picking a rotation of any size, grabbing knives and switching as soon as an hour later at times. :o

Beautiful EDCs guys! There's some here that I'd be too much a wimp to carry, so much respect to you who do...

Here are my main four. I do also carry a Skeletool or a Kershaw when it seems prudent, but as mentioned earlier, this isn't the place.

My #83 is actually my newest (bought as a user here on BF). Since it was already used before, I get to be rougher with it - guilt free. It is the perfect carrier for me.

The Russlock is my favorite Case, and is my top choice if I think I won't have two hands to open my knife.

I love my #89, and therefore still baby it. When I'm wearing slacks, it's in my pocket.

My 92 is my workhorse (I know, it's really my Eureka). It's a bit heavy for my taste to carry all of the time, but when I know I'll be doing some harder cutting, it's ideal

Randy, you definitely picked some winners! I think you'll be OK till next year. If it begins to be too much of a struggle... what a great excuse to pick up a few more. :D I especially like the new sowbelly, the yellow barlow and of course your farmer (looks sweet in blue). I can usually limp along fairly well, making due with just these few as my EDC's.

And here i was thinking it was just me that could not settle on the "Knife of the Day".

Looks like a nice set of knives, Randy. These days I pretty much only carry a Victorinox Alox Mini Champ on my keyring and nothing else. I don't have a pic of it but they all look the same.

I leave a Case Sod Buster Jr (black synthetic SS) in my car, along with a larger modern folder, though I can't ever recall needing either of them.

That's a great set you've got going, Randy! I think you'll have no problem making those last until January!

The top row of this picture shows the knives that constantly get pocket time, and the bottom row shows knives that I'm trying to put into rotation. The 77s and Mini Trappers just seem to be constant reminders that something is in my pocket. They don't disappear like my small knives, but I'm going to give them the good, old college try to get used to them.

Looks like you're pretty well set, Randy!

Enjoy the holiday. Sounds like fun. We've got our kids, grand dogs and 3 month old grandson coming by today. There's a nice beef brisket in the slow cooker and a big pot of home made vegetable soup on the range. There's always a pocketful of treats for the canines.

Here's a pic I have stored on Photobucket that includes 5 that see fairly regular pocket time. There's some others that get rotated in now and then. It's a knifenut thing ....

You've got some very nice stag pieces there, but the apple of my eye is the barehead saddlehorn in bone stag. I have one similar, but mine isn't as nicely toasted as yours is. I also modified the skinner into a sheepfoot.

I store my knives in an old parts cabinet on the landing at the top of the stairs. On top of the cabinet, I have a cigar box where I keep any knives I've carried recently. When choosing a knife for the day, sometimes it's one from the cigar box, sometimes it's one from the drawers, but they all go in the box before being put away. When the box gets full, I'll oil and wipe down all the knives in it and put them back in the drawers, then start the whole thing over again.

Barrett I need to start doing a more systematic cleaning such as this.

I guess you have enough to keep out for your rotation . Some good users and some Great Stag . But what about Dress - up ?? Stag ??

I do not have , and never have had , a Rotation as such . I just normally carry these 2 .

But then I have another bunch , too numerous to show all of , to choose from to change it up a little depending on where I am going and what we will be doing.
Small sample below . All of these pictures have been shown before.

And for Sunday or dress-up

Hey Harry, that's a great NF Barlow collection! I particularly like the "yellowish" wharnie (I think) at the bottom. Are those handles chestnut sawcut?
