New EDC line up

Harry, great to see your tower of 77's again and the stags...Oh my gosh, always a pleasure.

Hey Harry, that's a great NF Barlow collection! I particularly like the "yellowish" wharnie (I think) at the bottom. Are those handles chestnut sawcut?

If memory serves me correct , it was called Old Tan Saw Cut . I really does not look that yellow , but it has developed some patina. It was made in early 2015 and you could look on the GEC website at 2015 production numbers to see what it was really called. I did carry it as an EDC for a while. Thanks for your kind words Ryan .

Shawn that Boker 493 is a fine knife
Gary I always love to see your Ohta
Jack I have a 206 just like yours
Jeff that sheepsfoot looks great
Harry is that second 77 down in smooth autumn bone a clip point

Great knives everyone

Nice knives, everyone.

While I generally have 2 or 3 knives on me at any given time, I generally only carry one traditional at a time. I will switch to a different traditional once every month or so. Lately, this one has been in my pocket. It's a vintage Case Tested XX Barlow from *I think* the 1920s.

Barrett I need to start doing a more systematic cleaning such as this.

The only downside I've found to it is that if I let it go too long, some don't get wiped down or oiled as quickly as they should. Obviously I wipe off a blade any time I use it, but I should probably start giving the whole thing a once over with the rag before I even drop them in the box there. On that #14 TC, I noticed a few pepper spots on the bolster which surprised me. I mean, I've been using the knife for various things, and the blade has some patina developing, but I didn't expect anything on the bolsters (at least not so soon). So it's not the best system, but it at least keeps me from putting a knife away out-of-sight without giving it the proper treatment.

That is a nice old Case Barlow Chris. Is that original bone? Either way it's in great shape for being that old.:)

Thanks. :) As far as I know, everything is original. It still has just the right amount of snap, but is not a nail breaker at all. In fact, I can pinch the main blade open and there is no blade play. I really lucked out on it.

Well I started adding to my little canvas bag since my wife won't let me take anymore knives from my stash. Now I did have the Queen copperhead ordered and it came today. But I picked up an Opinel #6, A Leatherman Wave and a cool old hatchet today. I have a thing for hatchets.

Plans are made just to be changed after all Randy !!!!

I tend to carry so many at a time, I don't even think of it as rotation anymore, I'm afraid. I recently got the orders to put most of mine away, due(rightly so) to child safety. Even the top of my tall dresser wasn't enough, because our little one is such an acrobat  I rarely confess to what I carry for various reasons, but on a given day it's likely to include my Dozier, Queen #49(f or h, take your pick) bem, mini-copperhead (W), a thick SAK, a very small A G Russell lockback, and a kershaw that shan't be spoken of, and an Emerson to which the same applies. There may or may not be others, as I do like to move things around. Add all that to everything else I carry(yes always cargo pants or shorts. Well insulated bibs in winter) and as posted elsewhere, I am thinking of becoming a bracers-and-belt man. I know. I have a...problem. Not enough bloody pockets!
Thanks, Neal
Ps lovely knives all! Very nice mod, umm...BM. Other fixies get rotated around too

Added this # 14 Lick Creek Boy's knife today. Sometimes my mailbox is my best friend.

Nice addition, Randy! How do you like the #14?

It's a very nice and well made little knife Barrett with little being the key word. :D The Gabon Ebony is beautiful IMO. I get frustrated at GEC some times trying to acquire certain patterns but not so bad that I won't buy them because they do make an outstanding knife. I cleaned the patina off, oiled and sharpened it and it looks and cuts very good so I'm going to carry it for awhile to see if I can get use to such a small knife. I know many folks really love a small knife. Carl comes to mind for his love of Peanuts.

randy that must be a small knife for you!

Jack it is a bit too small for my usual taste but I bought it from Brett (KBA) he sold it and some more knives with funds going to Bob so I was happy to help out and will most likely keep it for sentimental reasons as Bob is a good friend.
