New Emerson with comments questions pictures and a ZT

Depends.

On a knife, I'll take it apart if i dont like how it flips, opens, closes, locks, whatever. Whether it's a factory production or a full-on custom, it doesn't matter. Guns, cars, same thing. When you get a new TV, the default picture settings might be good enough for most conditions but when they aren't ideal, you have to adjust them.

Thank for your reply. I am not a guy who like to tinker, if I pay for something that is expensive, and Emersons are pricey, no cheap by my standards. I expect.

Quality.

Functionality.

Something that works, as advertised.

Good Fit & Finish.

AM I ASKING FOR TWO MUCH NEW, FACTORY FRESH, AM I REASONABLE. UNREASONABLE???

Buyers beware when you do not purchase from us or a reputable dealer. Flea-bay is like Craigslist. You never know if the knife really is "new" or "never been carried."

It is undoubtedly the reason for any problems I may have encountered. But what is really cool about it is that it was able to be put right back in action no matter what may have been wrong.

Just a question to the rep. On the Emerson web site you have some online dealers listed. One of them only sells on ebay. Is he a real dealer?

Of course centering and any other factory issues are covered. What do you mean by edge angle? Do you just need a sharpening?

Basically yes lol! But out of the 3 Emersons I have I'm having the most trouble sharpening the 7AW because on the side that the edge is ground it's fairly obtusely ground. I sharpen by following that angle and it's coming out not-so-sharp compared to my others sharpened the same way (waterstone). I would have to reprofile the edge completely to really get it sharp which would be difficult because I only have a 4k/8k stone so it would take a loooong time!

I used the link from your site. It goes to the bay site. I ordered a knife this week.

thanks

Hey cody,

Would you mind leaving a link to the bay site?

My man! I cannot stand a new product unless it is taken down -- one of the few reasons why I took heavily to Emerson knives. They aren't pretty, the fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired (when compared to equal priced models of other manufacturers), they smell oil when new, the scales will rip your trousers in no time, first time you see the grind you go wtf, BUT, they are SIMPLE and they are TOOLS. Liked your tinkering, as well as the pictures, made my day.

BTW, where did you get those stand-offs? Please PM/email me (my username at gmail). Thanks.

I am not a tool friendly person, I have found on passed experience, it is better to leave somethings to a Pro.

I have a friend who can build you the most beautiful Flintlock Kentucky Rifle Reproduction out of a $700.00 Part Kit. If I tried I would produce scrap metal, and wood chip suitable for starting a fire. Total value $10.00.

Each of us has skills we are good at. I was a professional freelance still News photographer for many years. I got paid the big buck for my photo, as that was what I was better than good at.

People use to say how did you get that picture. I would say it was what I was good at. But when a camera failed to work, it went to Pro Photo to be fixed, as I was only a photographer, and the expert at Pro Photo Repair was the expert in his area of expertise.

Each of use has our own strengths, and weaknesses, Thank goodness that some people are good at fixing a broke down car.

"Expensive" is a relative term and means different things to different people. As you should know by now (hanging around here, reading, replying) these knives have almost a cult following, but are absolutely not for everyone. It's been stated before, if you are looking for perfection, best keep looking. If you are searching for a knife with excellent fit and finish, measured to within 5 one thousandths of an inch, they can be had for twice the price of Emersons. The black G10 knives are users, collectibles are also available via the customs and special lotterys.

It works perfectly. I am good at using the wave feature too. Actually, I can open it in a flash on the damndest things. The counter edge, the couch, the cat,s head, the...

I had a good laugh at the cat part....now it's time to find my cat...

Also congrats on the new Emerson! I've been meaning to snag a commander ever since I gifted a super commander to a good guy on here.

Also say good bye to your expendable income now that you have Emersons! They're all that I carry these days.

Choombak,

I tried sending you an e-mail three times. The damned e-mail keeps saying I need to use a password. This never happened before.

So I tried PM'ing you here. I was told that I don't have permission to do that. So I'll drop you the link here instead.

There's also texasknife supply and usaknifemaker. Look them up like I've posted them here.

Oh man I hear you on the expendable thing. I got it bad! I found an Emerson Prestige dealer with a new Jungle Commander for 176.00 and a new Specwar A for 156.00. My God in heaven! I know I'm going to get one or both. I already sold off 4 knives and 2 fishing reels to justify this Commander.

All I'd have to do is sell off two more reels that I cannot use and make the kids work a lemonade stand out front for a couple months. A little shorter than that if I keep it open 24 hours.

Seriously though, I think those are great prices and should be taken advantage of. I'd be stupid not to, right? Come on man, tell me I'm perfectly sane and that any rational human being would buy them outright at those prices.

Alright, I gotta get moving. While the wife is gone I'm bringing the TV and stereo to the pawn shop. I'm not sweating it, I'll make it look like a burgalary or something.

When, if, one comes to UNDERSTAND the Emerson knife, they will love it.
If I may, just like a Strider.
