New ESEE folder - the Zancudo

Something doesn't sound right.......made in Taiwan???? I'm curious .....anyone else have info on this?

Look on their Facebook page. This is another collab type deal for cheap, around the same price as the Rat 1. They're still working on the Izula folder, they say it will be more expensive for a better end product and made in the US. This one is made in Taiwan, is supposed to be a beat up, forget or lose kinda knife that you don't have to worry about, but with a shape friendlier to woodswork. They said that Blue Ridge Knives would be making them or at least distributing, I guess BHQ is one of their dealers.

i kinda like the way it looks i think anyway!!! be intrested in some reviews later on for sure!

I like that it has a sub 3 inch blade. The clip reminds me of kershaw clip like on the leek.

Apparently, this isn't an official ESEE knife but it is a licensed knife being made by Blueridge Knives

I'm looking forward to the Izula folder too. That said, I like the simple design of the Zancudo, and for the projected price, I'll probably get one.

If it comes in around 30 bucks, I will have one. Still really, really want a folding Izula.

There are some pictures of it on the ESEE forums. Its smaller than the pictures lead you to think. Its only about the size of a Kershaw Leek.

As a Spanish speaker, I think the name sucks.

I was hoping for something a little more high end and made in the US for ESEE's first folder.

precisely -- much like the Ontario RAT1 & 2, this is an ESEE design but someone else's knife. No ESEE QC, no ESEE warranty.

what's wrong with Mosquito? they have a biting army ant and the fish from hades as knife names, why not a bloodsucker?

The proper Spanish word for mosquito, is actually "mosquito". "Zancudo" is used in some parts of Latin America for all mosquitoes (Venezuela, for instance), and in other parts to designate certain kinds of long legged mosquitoes ("zancudo" means something like "long shanks", and isn't a particularly elegant term).

Anyway, I was a bit underwhelmed with this knife as ESEE's first folder, the name is just a very minor point. I mean, I've got knives with much worse names (Onslaught, Paramilitary, etc.). However, I was expecting something that would tie in a bit better into the looks and materials of the rest of the ESEE line, as well as being made in the US. For some reason, I pictured an ESSE folder somewhat similar to the HEST one.

I'm sure this knife will be good, these fellows haven't put their name on any bad product that I know of, but it just isn't what I expected.
