I don't like the majority of Busses I've seen simply because their philosophy of design doesn't align with mine. But their quality is excellent and I'm glad others enjoy them--a close friend of mine has a good handful. Just not for me.

I'm honestly not sure what you mean by their "philosophy of design." I'm not a Bussetard either (I'm a Randall guy), but if there's something wrong with a big, tough knife that's designed to take a lickin' and keep on tickin', then you're the first one I've heard say that. If there's some other philosophy I'm missing out on, please feel free to enlighten me.

Mostly with regard to blade thickness, but also handle form. Blade profiles not well suited to what I usually do with a knife, in many cases. Just not my style is all. I like big knives but as you may have guessed I like machetes better. Broad thin blades are what tend to get me excited. :)

I have a similar relationship with Kershaw. They make wonderful knives that many people love, and I appreciate their quality and value. They just don't line up with what I like in a knife, and a lot of it is tiny stuff. If I was given a Busse or Kershaw I'd happily use it, but my money just happens to go elsewhere when it's actually coming out of my wallet. I'm the sort of fellow who researches the s*** out of options available on the market before making a purchase, so with all the variety out there I usually end up finding something almost exactly like what I was looking for.

Well, that's cool. There's a time and a place for everything. As long as you know which is which (and what they're each good for), it's all good.

Exactly. And for all I know Busse will come out with something perfect for me someday. I try to keep an open mind in all things. Just because a company doesn't make products that appeal to me now doesn't mean that they won't in the future. :)

I wouldn't mind having that bright orange handle on completely black coated Esee blade just for fun.

I'd rather have this combination.

dericdesmond VS BK14

BK14 wins......

I think Pizzaboy should put his money where his mouth is and perform the same test he did on that BK14, on one of his Busse knives.

Of course he won't do it because he knows, deep down, his Busse would break much quicker.

Snap. Crackle. Pop. Wah.

How did this become a Busse owner vs. Esee owner thread? From my interpretation......Mr. Dericdesmond never said esee was garbage or the owners of esee knives, like myself, were dumb. Likewise he never compared busses to them either. If he did I missed it? This was what we call down here in floriduh ......heckling.

It was good fun. Also was useful on how tough 1095 crovan truly is. That little knife took a beating and kept going. So thank you Sir for breaking your knife so I don't have to break mine to see how much it can take.

we are talking knives, not about each others wives or family or something to take offense at.

You're welcome. Ha ha ha ha ha.

Bye now. Maybe if you could have made your point using some degree of fact or intelligence you would have a chance of being taken seriously.

Nope, you didnt miss anything. Corpus and the like are just too butt-hurt to take the time to actually read. He will now go to his other hangout and brag to his buds how he just laid the smackdown on the pizza guy and also how BF's is filled with a bunch of goons (ironic isnt it?). Thanks for taking the time to actually read the thread jbmonkey.

Corpus picked the wrong time and place to be a loser. Gus and I laid the old Alley Oop on him.

Jbmonkey gets it. Seems like a lot don't, though.

Nope, most don't. TBH, I thought this was going to get locked down awhile back. I'm still waiting on Eric to set it on fire before giving it away though...

Well I like the venom green, don't care for the orange handles but I have some canvas scales and black dye so I will probably pick up at least one more. I love my busse blades too and generally any more thats what I carry camping or backpacking.

Some pics lol

Hey guys, I kind of skipped to the end so I haven't read all posts, and I know this isn't Busse vs. ESEE, but that guy peeved me. I mean, both are good for what they are, and both are extremely well made and useful knives. I find the thinner profiles of ESEEs are nicer for EDC and light to medium woodworking, and a Busse is what you use when you need to cut the hatch open on a tank xD just my $0.02

I guess orange handles are the thing right now.An orange handled Busse Beast on the cover of Blade Magazine.
