If this isn't a joke, then that is the most stupid company on the face of the earth.
It doesn't even require any explanation. It's self-evident.
The really hilarious part is that they'd have to be on drugs to make knives like that, yet they have a picture of their "anti-narcotics knife"?

Gotta be a joke.

Not a joke, and a lot of people actually like them because they will not lose them when they are set down.

I don't like the colors, but the knives themselves are fantastic. However, your opinions are just that, yours.

Why not?

No sillier than black (or camo) coating, IMO. Really, how many of us really need to practice "light discipline" or camouflage, anyway. For the vast majority a coating provides rust protection and "style" only.

Something easy to find if dropped in brush or water along with the rust protection....that people need and use.

I think they would look awesome once you strip the paint. Loving the idea of the orange G10 with a nice patina.

Yeah the green and orange make my eyes hurt, but I can't argue with this logic. I've got a black esee, and while I'm pretty sure I'll never have to practice "light discipline", there is a pretty good chance I'll have to put it down in the grass and/or at night at some point. But that black coating looks good.

The next step will be integrated speaker in the handle. The knife will continuously beep, allowing the user to locate it even if the knife is completely hidden from view...

Before I lost my hearing, I'd have paid a premium for that feature. God only knows how many hours of my life has been spent trying to find various tools that I've dropped in my hayfields...

Now how am I suppose to "de-animate" Al Qaeda sentries with one of those? They'll see me comin a mile away. :D

But seriously, if you like em, great. But when I look at them I think "Knives for "slow" people". I mean, is it really a common problem that people are putting their knives down and forgetting where they left them? Or are people having a problem with their knives falling out of their sheaths and getting lost?

Do you really need your knives to glow in the dark to keep from losing them?

I imagine knife companies spend a lot of time trying to come up with new ways to make their knives stand out from the crowd, or give the impression of "new and improved".

You make it sound like these knife companies are trying to sell the knives they make!

Don't mistake the color for the quality of steel underneath it. I just got an ESEE 4 clip point 3 or so weeks ago and it is a very nice knife, and the 1095 steel takes a great edge. A lot of times when you see these type colors on knives they tend to be cheap knives, but here it is just not the case. Still too funky for me though....but to each their own!

The color? Eh, it'll appeal to some I suppose. The whole "anti-narcotic knife" thing? Eh, again, it'll appeal to some. Although since the DEA doesn't even classify marijuana as a "narcotic", maybe they should at least change the photo...maybe of an enforcement agent holding a Junglas to the throat of an evil coke lord. That would just scream "anti-narcotic"...along with the trippy colors!

Just a question I'm not sure about the answer to: Do you think knives like that are less intimidating or offensive to the general public, or do they just draw more unwanted attention?

Also, I wonder what the sheath color is since it's more likely that I'd drop it while it's in the sheath (lost a sand-colored Glock 78 in Saudi Arabia that way), due to the fact I often utilize their belt clips, which would eliminate the theoretical benefit of a brightly colored blade.

I imagine these knives are way outside my price range, but I love the colors. I'd prefer purple handles, though. Nothing wrong with a little non-detrimental silliness in the knife industry now and then. I get so tired of the "serious business" that is knives these days.

I'm pretty much colorblind, and that color combo still makes my tummy hurt.

It seems ESEE is going for psychological warfare now

and the colors, meh. It could be bright purple with little daisies drawn on it, so long as it works I couldnt give a rodent's anus about it

I think it's funny. The colors are the opposite of all the tacticool camo colored or all black blades/scales that seem to dominate the market. If you dropped a neon orange and green knife it'd be pretty easy to spot it. I already have an ESEE-4 with the orange g10 scales, but I might pick one of these up just to see the colors in person. Also those candirus look pretty sweet.

Finally some color. I'm sick of all knives being black or gray with beige micarta handles. -.- Color is good but puke green is wrong color.

Meh. I pretty much gave up on ESEE about the time Jeff threw his temper tantrums here. His subsequent anti-BladeForums rants on his own forum didn't improve my opinion of him. I'll stick with the Beckers, thanks.

I think the reason you wouldn't lose it is two-fold. One because of the really bright colors, two because no one would want to steal such a hideous looking knife.
