Well, I've got good news, bad news, and some "new news"
The good news is that I started to grind this one tonight.
The bad news is that a Bob Lum style tanto tip is very hard to do, especially when you've never even tried it before. Things were going really well, and then all of a sudden, the grind on the tip was toast, just like that

I was going for that compound tip grind that Lum always did flawlessly and Rick Hinderer has uses on his XM's. Gonna take some practice to get it right.
.....now, the "new" news is that I couldn't let a nice bar of CPM 154 go to waste, especially not after all that cutting and profiling work, so I chopped off the botched tip and reprofiled the knife with the slightly shorter blade. This one will now end up being a wharncliffe style fighter. I'm definitely going to try to do the original design again, but thought this turned out ok. Here are some pics after setting the bevels. Going to send it off to heat treat and then get down to finishing it up.
