New Fire Kit concept

And you just look cool and can impress all the hot women when you start a fire with a ferro rod rather than a lighter. Just about everything we build is designed to impress the good looking crazy women, nothing more.

If I could find a good looking woman when I was lost in the woods I wouldn't need a fire to stay warm!:D

I for one am all over this.
I was hunting around for an in-stock original kit, and now I'm kinda glad I couldn't find one...
Brilliant concept and design!

Looks great, I'll buy one.

Will they be long enough to hold some stormproof matches?

Neat. Any dimensions on this bad boy?

Yes, but Tom has all of those and he's headed to Germany for 4 days. But you can sort of guess knowing that the compass is 25mm in diameter, no?

Folks, a word of caution on the old style fire kits. I have two of them and both have matches, cotton balls, & the Spark-Lite Tinder Tabs in them. I was using the one at my brother's farm this week-end & noticed the face of the compass has turned so opaque you can now not read any of the letters to use the compass. I had the matches on the bottom, cotton balls in the middle, & the Tinder Tabs on top against the compass face. I don't know if the tabs had chemicals in them & reacted with the plastic face or not. When I got home, I checked the other kit, & it was fine, but the Tinder Tabs were on the bottom, matches in the middle, and cotton balls against the compass face.
Just wanted to pass this along to anyone when you are packing items in there for your trips.
Be safe.
( P.S.: Jeff, for some reason, I can only get one shot of DeWar's in mine . . . :) ).

Interesting new design  Just ordered my first FireKit from Dale @ TKC two days ago... Good timing :p

Can we have one in blaze orange for safety and easy2find reasons?

. . . just don't try and light her cigarette in a dark bar with one though . . . :)
Be safe.

I like how the ferro rod can be stored in the handle. I doubt I will ever break a ferro rod, but like this I know I wouldn't.

Jeff, where do you and Mike get these ideas? Out of your magic hat of bad-assery? I think I want one.

If the compass is 25 mm, or about an inch, this sounds like it would make a sweet fist pack for giving someone an attitude adjustment. Not that I would ever do that nor condone it.

I like the ideas, Jeff, looks like a good marriage between the Exotac MatchCap and the FireSteel Tube Armageddon. I like their stuff, but they can certainly be improved on. The anodizing and ESEE logo is a good big step forward :D

I have their Firesteel Tube Armageddon, and use that for starting fires when I go camping. I like the big handle for the firesteel. I just wish one of them can accommodate a wetfire cube. It'd be nice if the ESEE one is shorter than the Armageddon, but can accommodate/store more emergency tinder (maybe a slightly shorter firesteel than the armageddon). I do like having the compass.

I actually prefer ferrocerium rods for firestarting. The sparks are so damned hot, if you have good tinder, you have fire, period.

Plus it does make you look cool using them, definite plus. :D
