New forge, new sword

Here is some shots, got it ground to 60 grit. I need the 10 inch wheel the 5 inch i have and use now is too small and leaves waves up and down the blade. I need to get the 10 inch wheel before i can HT this one, so it might be awhile until i can afford it. I'll get some better pictures tommorrow inthe daylight.

ah okies =) Probably just the way the flash hit the blade but it looked like a hollow grind to me at first.

Thanks for posting Sam, very good to see the pics, and I love your forge.:) What kind of a firepot is under that?

:eek:not quite ready to try a quadruple hollow grind yet:eek::). Yeah was flat grinding on the 10 inch wheel at Mitch's, and no problems, but with the 5 inch wheel there is divets.

Thanks Fox Creek, i custom built the firepot for the forge from 3/8ths thick steel, if i remember correctly the pot is about 4 inches deep, 10 1/2 by 10 square.

Thanks Matt! to tell you the truth i got a nice bit of 1095, bit thick but it would be nice if it was hollow ground........NO I CAN'T, must resist!!!!!!

I'll tell you a hammering tip, don't treat it like it is a blade, just treat it like any other bar of steel, get's way easier then. When I make a blade, I am just making a long tapered object with 4 equal sides.
