New Front Page on Busse website

I may be in the minority, but I don't care for it.

When I think of Busse knives I think of cool bubbling streams, snowy mountain tops, evergreen woods, camp-fires and a stiff drink.

I do not think of demonic animal heads with blood dripping from their muzzles.

I also think the blood-dripped animals, while cool looking and well drawn, are a bit corny. But, I don't buy knives from this family because of their marketing or their logos - I buy them for the outstanding warranty and tough-as-nails reputation. The marketing might have helped build that rep in the first place, but the knives perform and that's what really matters.

I don't like change, so I don't care for it either.

I liked the 3 blade tips that looked like shark fins much better.
I also liked the old school jungle camo blade on the top of the pic.

The new page just looks too dark and dreary. Almost demonic.

Hey Matteo, what part of ‘Woods and Streams’ do these Busse's remind you of then?
‘Nuclear Meltdown Fusion Battle Mistress’? “Steel Heart”? ‘Battle Rat’? 'Terror Monkey'? ‘Desert Storm Fighter’?

An on, and on…………………………… :D:D:D

Ick! I strongly dislike those graphics.

That is not at all meant as a knock against Rob, who is a talented illustrator, and did his job well.

That is also not meant as a knock against the Busse crew. They are very savvy marketers, and I am sure they know their market well; I am not going to begrudge them for skillfully targeting their market.

Personally, I am a happy-go-lucky nature boy who uses my knives as tools for the outdoors, and has no bloodthirsty aspirations, fantasies, obsessions, nor predilections. I wouldn't hesitate to use my knives for self-defense, but these angry, hateful, snarling and fang baring, blood-splattered depictions don't suit me at all.

Further, I agree that they seem silly and immature to me, like the 70s heavy metal imagery/tattoo imagery one sometimes sees – you know: the skulls, roses, daggers, hearts, Gothic script, etc.

I understand why the Busse Knife Group has decided to use this kind of imagery, and I won't object (and it won't stop me from buying these excellent knives), but I do find it unfortunate.

Please, don't start put these pictures onto the knives. I dislike the snarling dog logo on my Scrapper 4, and these pictures are even more disagreeable.

Sorry I can't respond effusively; I write this in the hope that the Busse Crew appreciates honest feedback, whether positive or negative.

I agree.. the graphics are well executed.. but I'm not sure the bloody, dark imagery works for the Busse brand (from my exp in advertising)...

The over the top horror blood is definitely verging the line of cheesy :o

As in all things Opinion will vary.

It is certainly good Theatre.

Goth types should line up even to just look.

Good art.

Might miss the middle aged spread knife buyers who actually use knives and have for the last 30/40 years who now can afford the best.

From the 2000 to now, most of the knives that get resold seem to be safe queens.

For the most part the people that actually use these knives tend to hang on to them.

Keeping the users and selling the Diaper polished Safe Queens.

For those who just collect/buy/sell, the Theatrical aspect is prolly a good thing adding to the Aura of Mystery and Savagery.

Will this sell more knives?

That remains to be seen, The Busse Combat Knife Company has grown by leaps and bounds over the last 10 years so they Must be doing some thing right.

Have to agree, the blood is what probably throws it over the top. It looks like a poster my 16 year old son would have up on his wall...

Of course, my son doesn't buy many $400 knives, so that may be the wrong demographic to go after. :)

Graphics are first rate whether you like the theme or not. However, that theme sort of matches the actual names that Busse has given their high profile knives if you think about it.

Maybe a kinder gentler politically correct blade naming is in order to attract a broader range of clientele! NOT!!! :D

Rob has some serious skill but the snouts drenched in blood is too much... reminds me too much of a horror flick.

The Hog T-Shirts from Blade last year where the blood was in black and white was perfect. In black and white I actually thought that the blood was dirt and I like the look.

I would love to see these done sans bloody effects.

Great work by Rob but I don't care for the theme.
When i look at my collection I think of the history of Busse, the integrity of the owner and "Made in the USA" American quaility.
I think something that incorporates these points would be a much better representation of Busse.

We have a broad customer base. Primarily we are aimed at the elite units of the military. These new images have been very well received amongst those who go in harm's way on a regular basis. It had pointed out many times in the past that our previous images were far too cartoonish and didn't really capture the spirit of our blades and those who use them.

We are ever evolving and the art work is outstanding!

The knives haven't changed nor has our direction. . . we are still looking for the nearest bar or watering hole where we can wet our whistle. :D

And where are you guys seeing blood? All I see is Jack Daniels BBQ sauce on their faces after having porked out at the trough!!!!!. . .:D

Let's drink!!!

Jerry :D

Shocking! Just shocking! You should change your company name from Busse Children's Hour Birthday Cake Slicers to Busse Combat and maybe focus on selling knives to soldiers or law enforcement. My bunnies just can't eat while looking at that page. My goodness!

Some of you guys just won't make it to the front line at the trough at Blade this week. Sharpen your elbows and wear your muddy field cleats. The folks in the Galleria will be asking what the heck is happening at that Busse booth!!!

You cannot ride on the Killa Zilla unless you are this tall.
