New Front Page on Busse website

Wow! :) Some intersting responses! Thank you all for being so honest, positive and negative.

As far as I see it, it's all a bit of fun. Always has been. Thumbs up to Jerry & Co. for having the guts to not take themselves too seriously.;)

Having spent most of my professional life in advertising, my experience has taught me to push the envelope. All the best ads ever made - print/tv - are the ones that do this, they get remembered and talked about. You will remember these images - for good or bad. The fact that they're being talked about like this tells me that they're doing their job.

Jerry knows his business, and he knows it extremely well. He wouldn't be where he is if he didn't. And he knows his product is strong enough to stand on it's own without fancy pants graphics. We all know the Busse brand and what it stands for - THE best knives and cutting tools you can get anywhere in the world. Period.

So, hats off to the Busse Knife Group for having fun with their business and enjoying life! :)

Ick! I strongly dislike those graphics.

That is not at all meant as a knock against Rob, who is a talented illustrator, and did his job well.

That is also not meant as a knock against the Busse crew. They are very savvy marketers, and I am sure they know their market well; I am not going to begrudge them for skillfully targeting their market.

Personally, I am a happy-go-lucky nature boy who uses my knives as tools for the outdoors, and has no bloodthirsty aspirations, fantasies, obsessions, nor predilections. I wouldn't hesitate to use my knives for self-defense, but these angry, hateful, snarling and fang baring, blood-splattered depictions don't suit me at all.

Further, I agree that they seem silly and immature to me, like the 70s heavy metal imagery/tattoo imagery one sometimes sees – you know: the skulls, roses, daggers, hearts, Gothic script, etc.

I understand why the Busse Knife Group has decided to use this kind of imagery, and I won't object (and it won't stop me from buying these excellent knives), but I do find it unfortunate.

Please, don't start put these pictures onto the knives. I dislike the snarling dog logo on my Scrapper 4, and these pictures are even more disagreeable.

Sorry I can't respond effusively; I write this in the hope that the Busse Crew appreciates honest feedback, whether positive or negative.

Thats a big +1

I like the graphics ,,,,,,,,, Busse Combat Knives are not 2 & 1/2" blade length William Henry's. They're hard use blades meant for big jobs . I don't think bloody animal skulls are out of line for these types of blades. We ain't buying letter openers....lol :D
