Very happy to have the chance to add this beauty to my collection. Mike picked a good one for me!

The clerk is winning me over, I can't stop carrying it! The swedges and grinds are all perfect. It all squeezes together in a thin package with no blade rub. The long wharncliffe is a great blade and paired with that little pen it makes a great edc knife! The walk and talk/snap is exceptional on mine. Gec is really coming into a zone and my hat is off to the fine craftsmen and women that made these guys, fine work indeed!

Jeff, you pretty much plagiarized my post about my muslin micarta 13 congress.:D Mine is perfect, apart maybe from the burn(?) marks in the micarta, but I kinda like it - it gives it character like variations in wood grain. Mine hasn't gotten much pocket time yet as I've blown a huge chunk of my IRS wad on various traditional knives over the last few weeks, so it has to share the time with my other new toys as well as my old knives.

I'll take a group picture at some point, after everything has arrived. I'll post it it the "new acquisitions" thread. There's still a couple in the mail, a 4" Moki Fish Owl to compliment my small one, and one of those Portuguese Opinel-like knives. I think I'm done for now unless I find something that matches what I'm looking for in my sig.

Very nice Taike: You're right. Mike picked a nice one for you. Good on both sides. Next CK reserve, I think I'll do that.

You have a very good friend. Yes, the blade will patina if (when) you cut apples with it. You can limit this by wiping it clean immediately after making the cut. I don't find it unattractive, and use another version of that knife daily. As you can see, the discoloration isn't drastic, nor does it impact use of the knife. (see middle example in photo).

You can remove the stain with a minimally abrasive polish like Flitz but I find that's too much bother for a using knife.

Thanks, eisman! I really like the patina on the middle knife. Did that come naturally? If not, what did you do to make it look like that?

That's just natural use. Been carrying it almost daily since 2013. It's my favorite knife.

What is the generic name for this pattern? It's not really an equal end, so what is it called?

Thanks, Knivolf, anyone else with an opinion?
Certainly, my pleasure. I looked around a little bit more, and also found this older thread. Hope that helps a bit.
Comparing Irish Jacks thread

It is essentially a congress frame, and I remember seeing it referred to as an "Irish Jack" when the blades are on the same end (jack) and the main is a "straight" blade etc.
