I ordered my first knife from there yesterday around noon. It still says it's Processing but I got an e-mail with an insured mail receipt number... what exactly does that mean? How long does it usually take for them to ship the knife out? I was hoping to get it by the weekend but now I'm not sure, though they are in VA and I'm in PA.

They have always shipped same day for me. So it was shipped today if you got the email. After that it is up to the shipper.

Are they usually good at sending out shipping notifications or does it just kind of show up? I'm assuming it still hasn't shipped since I got no tracking number, but I'm confused what the insured mail receipt e-mail was...

How was it shipped? I'm 100 miles from them so if I ordered tomorrow I'd have it Fri UPS.

I think I picked USPS so it would have a chance to come during the weekend, otherwise UPS only has until Friday. Maybe it doesn't have tracking, but I think I'd get a notification at least. Unless that's what the insurance receipt was, some sort of notification.

EDIT: Yep, Priority Mail.

Dunno how they do tracking for that. UPS always emails me my tracking number.

They sent you the mail reciept number, so it has already shipped.
If you ordered on Tues or Wed you'll probably have it in PA by Friday.
USPS Priority usually moves pretty fast.
My orders usually get here in GA in a couple of days.

I've ordered from them many times, and just to echo what others have said, if they sent you the insured mail receipt number, it's been shipped. Disregard the fact that it's still listed as "Processing" when you look at your order history on the website. All of my orders -- some placed months ago, and all of which were received in full within 2-3 business days -- still have "Processing" as their status on the site.

Look what I had waiting for me tonight :D

I hope I didn't come across as annoyed with NGK, I was just curious. And now that I received the knife in perfect condition, I'll definitely be doing business with them again. Not that I had any doubt given their track record here.

You didn't. Just as someone dealing with a new vendor and anxious to get your purchase.

Fortunately you picked one of THE best vendors to deal with. I've never seen a negative comment about NGK.
Plus Mike Dye (the owner) and Annie (the real boss) are terrific folks to deal with.

I have bought a few knives from them and always had good experiences. I do know if I look at my account online it shows orders that were delivered years ago as processing. In fact all of my orders show that.

If you ever have a question about an order from New Graham just pick up the phone and call. Chances are whoever answers the phone will know off the top of thier head. They stay on top of things very well.
