Hi Everyone!

I wanted to take a second and introduce myself. My name is Kyle and I'm the new dude in the shop. I moved to Georgia from Connecticut last June but don't worry- I'm actually from Boston. I was lucky enough to find Fiddleback Forge and began working in this incredible shop last August. I feel very fortunate to have found Fiddleback and I'm beyond excited to be at work with such a great group of amazingly talented people.

I'm currently an apprentice knife maker under Andy Roy, but I am also a certified Luthier since graduating from guitar building school, Roberto Venn in Phoenix, AZ. I'm married, no kids and I'm currently finishing my undergrad online. I love to cook and I'm also a music lover. I've been working on some eccentric knife designs that have gotten some laughs from the guys in the shop but also lots of encouragement, so I'll post some pictures of what I'm up to.

I'm having a blast learning to craft knives and I'm looking forward to sharing my work with the community here.
Feel free to reach out to me about the craft - I look forward to getting to know more knife lovers in the world.

To finish off I'll leave a quick picture of one of my most recent knives that I've finished.

-Kyle

This is actually my very first completed knife:

Cool stuff! Excited to see what you focus on in designs. Congrats on the job, Andy is a gentleman and his record shows he is quite a teacher.

Welcome Kyle. Great to see another talented individual on board.

Very interesting knives. I really like the 4th one down & the set of four

Love how you have combined the woods.

Look forward to seeing more from you

Nicely done! Knives are looking good. I look forward to seeing more as your refine your skills.

Kyle has been a great addition to the crew. His enthusiasm is super high and with his prior experience finishing woods for guitars and such it has been a great plus.

Now, his "dibs" calling...well, that needs some work:)

Feel free to explain, Kyle.:thumbup::D

Hey cool knives! I like the one next to the sharpie and the scandi one. Congrats on getting an interesting job!!

He is indeed a gentlemen I agree and I've still got a lot to learn. I'll be posting some more stuff soon as I have some more refined designs in the works.

Welcome Kyle! Thanks for introducing yourself and good luck with your endeavors at the Forge.

Theres something about the first knife that has me intrigued. Care to elaborate on that design? Intended purposes?

Thanks,
Sergio

I agree Andy is indeed a gentlemen and I still have a lot to learn and couldn't ask for a better teacher. I'll be posting more of my designs as I have a few more in the works.

Welcome! They're all pretty nice looking. I think the 1st one in the post is my favorite.

Thanks Kal-El, love the name, I'm a big DC fan myself. Yes, the first knife is a kitchen knife and I love to cook so I designed that one as a dream kitchen knife for myself. The way I grip a prep knife and the perfect size of a prep knife were paramount to the design. I have a similar one in my kitchen (a prototype) that has served me very well from chopping herbs, slicing onions and tomatoes all the way to carving a chicken so I'm pleased with it so far but there is room to make it even better.

Thank you, the first one is also one of my favorites. The etching I've done on that blade is something I will continue to do so you'll be seeing some more of that as well.

Thank you! I had some troubles with the scandi grind but it ended up working out well. I am looking forward to getting a better handle on that grind!

Well, I like to call "dibs" on sanding certain knives. I USUALLY like to take the ones that no one else wants to handle, ya know to help out the team.

ps I actually usually call dibs on a knife that I think is sexy and I want to see sanded out....

and then get the one that no one else wants to sand.

Kyle, you are doing great!
