New Guy in the Shop

Thank you, I was really pleased with the way the 4th one came out as well. Sometimes they don't always work out so pretty but I thought that one came out looking pretty slick. The four set was my second "batch" and there was a huge learning curve on those but they sure did look pretty. All of those got handed over to friends and family.

Pretty much lol! I don't mind though, they all end up looking great when they get sanded out so it's always a treat to see.

Thanks Kal-El, love the name, I'm a big DC fan myself. Yes, the first knife is a kitchen knife and I love to cook so I designed that one as a dream kitchen knife for myself. The way I grip a prep knife and the perfect size of a prep knife were paramount to the design. I have a similar one in my kitchen (a prototype) that has served me very well from chopping herbs, slicing onions and tomatoes all the way to carving a chicken so I'm pleased with it so far but there is room to make it even better.

Hey, now you're talking my language. I've been on a kitchen knife kick the last year or so considering I love to cook as well. It will be nice to see how your pattern evolves on that one.
And yes, big DC fan myself. Looking forward to seeing how the Justice League plays out.

I'm proud to have Kyle aboard. I think when he finished his interview with myself, Dylan, Allen and Phillip, he thought we were nuts. He must be kinda bent also, because he took the job. His experience really makes a difference around here. Thanks to all of y'all for welcoming him.

Hey Kyle, glad to see you out of the sanding chair and posting. You are already well on your way. You have several models I've liked watching evolve the past few months and they are pleasing both aesthetically and in hand. Keep it up!

Welcome!... Looking forward to seeing how your patterns and knife making style/direction develops.

Cool! Welcome aboard Kyle. I've enjoyed watching each different apprentice mature into their own brand. Each of you brings a different 'flavor' to the team.

Welcome aboard Kyle! Anxious to see your future contributions to this phenomenal group of knife makers and from what I gather thus far, a genuine bunch of good dudes.

I think it looks great, I'm really looking forward to seeing Aquaman on the big screen.

I'm in the shop regularly. Kyle is always up-beat and working hard. It's really cool to watch first hand from week to week how much he grows as a knife-maker. He also steps out fearlessly on design, handle materials and other design areas...which I find to be very refreshing. Although, I'm still not sure about the mushroom picking knives. 😉

Someone needs to make an offer on that kitchen knife in that first pic. That's going to be a collector's item one day!

- Robert

Welcome Kyle! I really dig some of your first knife designs, particularly the 4 in the tray.

OT question - I have a guitar with sentimental value that has a very warped neck that I would like to try to make semi-playable again. Who in the east valley would you recommend for repair, truss rod adjustment and setup?

Thanks, Phillip

Welcome Kyle, I hope your very first completed knife becomes a standard model for you someday as you already know that I will be in line to purchase one. I look forward to seeing more of your knives in the near future.

Late to the party but Welcome Kyle. Like a good many here I really like those kitchen knives. Hope to see some offered up soon! And lastly No doubt Robert has taken you to that Honduran cafe! If not go for it!

Thanks for the feedback! I don't currently have any in the works right now but I'd be more than happy to get some started. I really like that model also and I do think it will be a part of my lineup. I'm thinking of naming it "the Kaiju" because that thing really does some serious work.
