New HI blades - call for help (attn: Yvsa, Pen, & others)

We now have the 'new' Himalayan Imports New Products page up.

Items include: M-43, 19th-century Dui-Chirra, Chitlangi, 'Pen-Knife', Cherokee Rose, Katar, Tibetan Sword

Ways to help -

Providing better/more complete descriptions for the New Products - particularly the 'inventors' of some of the New Items, like Yvsa, Pendentive, Dave K, etc. I've done the best I can, but I suspect some others might be able to improve these.

Beo the inspiration for the Cherokee Rose is my love of the old Scagel Knives.
Everyone was wanting a really large Bowie so I came up with the Scagel Style Southwestern Bowie.
The khukuri plays no influence on it at all as it's represenative of America's and one of the World's finest fighting knives of all time.

There are few changes I would make to it as it stands right now.
The main thing would to have made it a couple of inches longer and heavier at the base, about 3/8 inch so as to have a more distal tapered blade and better weight distribution.
That way the weight would have totally disappeared in the hand instead of, "almost.":)

All in all I'm fairly pleased with it.;)

Ben,
I'm sure Uncle will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think standard equipment for the 19th Century Dui Chirra includes not only wooden handled karda & chakmak, but also a leather tinder pouch and a silver chape. The antler handles are options, like the tool kit.
Thanks for all you do to facilitate HI's endeavours and make the forum a better place.
Berk

Please don't talk about no midlife crisis as 50.
At close to 67 and I'm still wanting to buy. You can't be doing that. I just don't buy anything I'm not going to use. :) :D

started updating the product pages (the ones at http://www.himalayan-imports.com/khuk1.html & http://www.himalayan-imports.com/khuk2.html & http://www.himalayan-imports.com/new.html not the ones at the Andale store)

I think I've cleared out all of the 'bad' review links that a number of people have mentioned to me. I spent some time crawling through the bladeforums archives and put up some 'new' review links (the nice thing about the archives is that, in theory, the html address should stay the same, unlike active posts/threads which change when they're archived).

Updated a couple of the photos, but we still need your contributions! ;) Grabbed some more good shots from wildmanh's site which I'll put up, unless he protests!

again, if you prefer to email me rather than posting in this thread, you may do so at: beowulf@heorot.dk

Thanks for posting the pic, Beo. I'll see what I can do to decribe the design inspiration and email it to you.

Still can't get to the new pages from home on any of my machines (I have 5) or the one that I am fixing with the OS fresh installed on it.:grumpy: (I was able to see them for a few hours one day, then never again):grumpy:

I keep getting that update you bookmarks page even if I change the url.

I can get to it from work though. But I am on a different network at work. :grumpy:

Very nice! Beo you're going to have to buy ALL those models so you can put up pics that are as Beautiful as the one of the Berk Special;)

Nice Work and thanks:)

Ankerson - Hmm, that is strange. It sounds like, for whatever reason, that your computers at home are not going all the way to the domain name, but rather that they think they know where the webpage is (but are still looking at the old IP). Are many people having this trouble?

I'm uploading the new files to the old site as well (so they'll be both places), and I'll just leave them there for a while before I put the 'forward' pages back on. So you should be able to access the new pages one way or other, whether your computer looks at the old or new IP.

Rob - yes, that is a really beautiful photo of the Berk special. But sadly, neither photo nor khuk are mine! :( It's a photo from somewhere here in the forum, though to be honest I can't recall who at the moment.

Ferrous - yes, that is a really beautiful photo of the Berk special. But sadly, neither photo nor khuk are mine!

Actually, this is part of how I rationalise buying khukuris - I think, well, I can take some good photos for the site ;)

Great Job!! Have been so busy lately,,, Do really like the Tibetan Sword alot! As Uncle said it is "one helluva sword"! The pics you have are good. The Tibetan is as stout if not considerably more stout than the other swords I have by HI. It has the chiruwa style handle and feels as solid as a tank but it is much lighter and balanced a little handle heavy. Makes for a fast sword.
Again good job a the new page!
