New HK 14716 mini axis

Thank you sir. That is what I call ideal. Much appreciated.

I owned one VERY briefly. Black on black wasn't my thing so I knew I wasn't going to keep it. It was a fantastic knife. Reading this thread made me want to get another (tan handle) and really give it a shot.

I like the design but the HK logo on the blade in place of a butterfly is a deal breaker. I have said it before, I am not sure why Benchmade takes these good designs but fails to keep them in the blue or black class. This design is one that would make a great black class knife. The now DC'd HK 14205 would have made a great blue class knife.

That may have been related to the dissolution of the designer and the manufacturer relationship, if any.

Dang, you HAD to go and do that............(pulls wallet out...............:D)

This knife (14716) has a very tactical feel. What I mean by this is not the G10, black blade, or gimping but the blade feels like it's spaced further out than my mini grip. The mini grip feels like a knife that I am going to cut something with. The 14716 feels like it is made to stick someone.

Just an observation. The little knife is a brick.

Here are some comparison shots to my stock 556. Both were received on the same day.

Thanks Mike,

My wife bought this for me as an anniversary present. I didn't care for it at first because of the weight and preferred to use my Tervis (SAINTS) cup. But after seeing what it could do I have put it into the rotation. :)

I've got one of those Yeti tumblers as well -- keeps ice longer than anything I've used before. Great for all us Advocare Spark drinkers. Just not nuts about the no-dishwasher thing. I've already broken that rule a time or two and the only thing I see that might be prone to damage is the rubber gasket on the lid. Time will tell...

The Mini-Grip and the Mini-HK are two different animals. As I mentioned before, the Mini-HK steps away from Benchmade's approach to similarly-sized folders and builds it like their larger, military-grade folders. Does it need nestled spacers and screws running into both sides of the stop pin? Nope. Heck, a lot of BM's have no screws at all running into the stop pin (940, Griptilians, 710, etc.). They went above and beyond with this little guy. I've found it to be quite utilitarian, and the only things I'd change would be with the aesthetics. I've found the coating to be a bit frail also, but I guess the wear and tear adds character.

The more I use it the more I like it. I am tempted to use it as an office EDC. I don't really carry a "nice" knife to the office; just something light and compact. I like how small this one is closed.

I REALLY like this model. I just ordered one. It would be near perfection for me with a satin blade. This will be my personal project knife. Strip the coating, tumble or acid wash make some new scales. Love the design and profile of this knife; both the blade and the scale profile.

Really thinking about picking up a HK 14715 love the value but not really sure about BM's D2, being razor sharp

The 14716 is a great knife. Only wish it was a tad larger. Haven't handled it's larger brother the 14715. Great value when compared to the new G10 Griptilians. Me thinks they the a bit overpriced. Just my opinion.

My 14715 easily shaves the hair off my arm. Most of the complaining about D2 and razor sharp edges has to do with the nature of D2 and its larger carbide size, not how Benchmade works it.

There's a lot to like with this little guy. As far as BM's D2 being sharp, I have 5 stitches in my left thumb as a result of fighting gift packaging two days ago. Needless to say the packaging won...

I won't grace you with pictures, but I hit an artery and bled like a fool. The best part of getting stitches is the needle they drive into the wound several times to apply the local anesthetic.

Loonybin.I just want to get some feedback on BM's D2,as I have limit experience with this steel, as I once had a 710 which didn't takes a great edge.Even after a couple sharpenings, alot of the same marginal sharpness characteristics.
