New HK 14716 mini axis

The small one is too small and the large one is too big. I hate that they made the handle shorter than the Mini-Grip. That makes no sense. I can just barely get a 4 finger grip on a Mini-Grip if I try. Who the hell likes a 3 and a half finger knife? Not me.

I agree it could be a hair bigger, but it's pretty sweet nonetheless. Keep in mind my favorite EDC is a BM707 and then the mini-grip. If the handle was about 3/16" longer and the blade 1/8" longer it would be a killer package. So close to perfection.
I am happy wih mine. It is a mini-tank! I bought it for a project knife anyway. I plan to trick it out some. We will see where it goes.

I ended up moving mine. There is nothing wrong with this knife I just didn't appreciate the aesthetics and the ergonomics. I agree that the handle should have been a bit longer. It's still a great knife.

Loonybin.I just want to get some feedback on BM's D2,as I have limit experience with this steel, as I once had a 710 which didn't takes a great edge.Even after a couple sharpenings, alot of the same marginal sharpness characteristics.
What other steels did you have experience sharpening before you got your 710?

One of my first BM's purchase about a decade ago.As recent as a few years ago,I tried to resharpen the edge and got the same results.I believe it was a bad heat treat,no a fact of sharpening skill but then again all of BM's 154CM is fantastic.

I like the mini-Grip better overall also. I just wish the mini-Grip was built like the mini-HK. Heck, I wish most BM knives were made like the mini-HK.

On another note, anybody else get an email from Knifecenter today regarding a 2016 Benchmade price hike?

D2 takes a lot more work to sharpen than 154CM. A decade ago, Benchmade's bevel was like an axe, so I'm willing to bet you suffered the same experience lots of folks have: not reaching the bevel. Even a bad heat treat will take an sharp edge. It just won't hold it.
