New info. New photos Chests for Knife Collectors

Great reply and clarification, Mark..thank you!! This forum reaaly operates with smooth civilility, other than the occasional lawn mower blade thread :)

That mounted tusk scull you posted back some time was magnificent and it sold faster than I could decide. Would have looked great on my display wall. Rare piece...

Here's a picture of another Model, if anyone would like to see more or get more information please let me know your mailing address and I will get it out to you. Thanks Mark

Great looking chest. It would be great if it could lock from behind or somewhere out of sight. It may sound like a lot of money to some ;however, Its very nice looking and it is easy on the eye. I dont mind gun safes in the house but my wife would like this better. My insurance will not cover certain items if they are not locked.

If you like you may PM me your mailing address, I will get the info to you. Thanks Mark

I'm interested and would like to see what other sizes are available.
can these be custom ordered to specified outside dimensions ?
locking is important.
i have over 3000 knives and storage with easy access is a problem.
the only thing better than what you show, would be a large fireproof safe with lots of shallow slide out shelves, but i can' find any such item despite lots of looking.

I do business with Mark. One of the most honest folks I've met in the 2 worlds I do business in. (Taxidermy supply and knife handle material).
In everything else Mark sells on here he backs it up with a no nonsense guarantee.
I'm just beginning to collect knives and often think on where/what to keep them. I appreciate business men bringing solutions to this forum.

As it just so happens, these are along the same lines, they are made for and imported by a guy who designed them for sheet music, he was contacted by a couple of knife collectors and he has desided to make a line for knives to compliment his already established line. They are made for him to his specifications by a fine cabinet shop in Argentina, I have not gotten to see one first hand yet but the pictures I have seen of thier workmanship is top notch, as are the materials they are using. These drawers are 2-3 inches high depending on the model, we are talking about the configuration of the partitions. Some people may be put off by the fact that they were not made in the US, but we should remember there are fine craftsmen everywhere, look at some of those knives coming from Brazil. Thanks for your input and questions, everyone.

I shopped around for two years looking for a display case for my collection. I finally found what I was looking for, a custom made "map chest" with 12 drawers 1.5" high. Of course, as luck would have it, I got a fairly drastic job change the same week. So, it's in storage for a year or so. I expect to have to line the drawers and possibly partition them, but getting the chest was the main task.

I figure $2k a reasonable price to hold $100k in knives. My gun safes cost about the same, and I have no trouble justifing their cost.

I didn't even ask him to say that, he did it all his ownself.

Ah oh Mark, he may be angling for a discount on a custom knife, back away slowly, pretend you didn't see it, don't make eye contact...:D:D

I have gotten a few answers to some questions.

1. All structurals of cabinets are solid mahogany - legs, vertical members, drawer fronts, sides. Only mahogany veneer is sides and back.
We do have specials with crotch mahogany/matched drawer fronts on a black body. Could make to order, the delay is extended, must be combined with other order, etc, etc.
2. Cabinets are made in Ecuador.
3. Inside of drawers are lacquered and finished.
4. There are dust covers between the drawers.
5. The 27" chest makes an excellent end table as well as display/storage.
6. We can will make accomadations for locking on some models
7. Most sizes currently in stock, can ship in week/10 days, will need to make arrangements for shipping

yeah.

I'd consider this but I got a Fancy old styled bank Safe. We have in the library and it looks Awesome and Functions even better. I can lock it down during the night and I know they will never lose their temper ;). A real showstopper. IF there was a fire I'm sure most collectors would rather have that RARE RARE knife than some cash... from the insurance company at least thats what I feel. And It's a great way to Show off my Old Elephant rifles.
