So, after my previous thread, I was given LOADS of good suggestions and have a lot to think about as far as my folder goes. Certainly, my current selection of carry knives aren't the most natural-grocery-store friendly:

So, I picked up a Kershaw Nura 3.5 and have a few other knives I'm looking at, but, now, I'm looking for a fixed blade with some pretty specific requirements:

Blade length: Under 4"
Steel: Not carbon steel, not pot metal / crap steel (440A is off the table, AUS8 is okay)
Blade style: No recurves or serrations
Sheath: Kydex, or equivalent (something that allows the knife to "click" into place, and can have a G-Clip attached or has its own pocket / belt clip [not a loop!])
Overall form: Not super threatening. The more utilitarian-looking, the better.
Budget: Under $100 (If I'm told I can't take it to work anymore, I don't want to have blown a bunch of cash for nothing) - keeping in mind that I'm patient, bargain hunt, and will often buy used. Suggestions with a list price of up to $150 are perfectly reasonable.

The blade will be used primarily for cardboard, tape, and plastic. Depending on how attached I get to the knife, I might carry it outside of work where it might be used for food prep or general EDC usage. Primarily, though, the former set of tasks.

I've been looking at the Cold Steel Spike and Mini Tac lines, and that's my best lead so far. The Mini Tac Tanto and the Bowie Spike push a lot of my buttons, and the Pro Guard - while maybe a little too big - seems like an excellent option as well.

I've even considered getting a Boker MA-2, or a CRKT SPEW. Please, throw some suggestions my way!

Although, really, for that kind of money, I could probably just have one made... Right?

Anyway, for reference:

Spyderco Street Beat. Comes with kydex and a g clip. It may fall into the pushing it category, depends on who you ask I guess. I've seen them go for around $100 on the exchange, but new is closed to $140.

That's a very good recommendation - I'd actually been lustfully eyeing the Street Bowie for a while even though I have absolutely no use for it. I just love the blade shape! Totally on the list now.

Two inexpensive options that pop to my mind are both from AG Russel. The Hunter Scalpel
RU-T914-OR-10a.jpg

Which looks tactical, until you realize that the whole thing is 4 inches long. It is tiny. So tiny that it always just seems more like a fun knife than a real knife, so maybe not what you want.

Another one that seems quite useful to me, and also very non-threatening is the Woods Walker

The SPEW is the Folts Wharncliffe?

It's a great knife and the sheath works well with cord belt loops, especially worn inside the belt.

Yeah - I had the Dragon at my previous job:

Really useful knife. The little brother seems like a good option.

It's worth it, get that first and take your time looking for a really ideal, nicer, small EDC knife!

CRKT folts minimalist in the wharncliffe. It's the most handy knife I own. Around $20 at lowes, and comes with a loop that makes it good for cross draw carry. Or maybe an Izula in a custom kydex sheath? They make a stainless one.

BK24 with the TDI clip maybe. D2, $50 plus the clip and added scales gets you to about $75. I have the 14 and its a great edc.

CRKT minimalist wharncliff FTW. I am headed to work right now and carry one around my neck. Nobody notices here, and I find it really useful and a great all around, discreet blade.
One of my favorite fixies!

I carry this occasionally, Enzo necker. I have also rigged a shock cord/key chain to the sheath that keeps it upright in my pocket, the sheats falls on my side and dangles from the keychain when I draw the knife.

Small scandi blades are also quite non threatening, but most of the time come with a leather sheath.

The satin G10 Street Beat is an incredibly gorgeous little fixed blade. If it needs to be fixed, then this is my recommendation as well.

I EDC a Millie in an office where nobody carries a knife, in country where 99% of the people would categorize a Military as a sole dangerous killing weapon and idiotic to carry. Colleagues just got used to it. (As my family and friends.) And now I have been the 'cart board dustbin' for years :)

But if it really has to be absolutely entirely 100% sheeple friendly, I would most definitely not get a fixed blade other than the Böker Gnome. But I would probably buy a pink Delica. Maybe a pink Lum (but the Lum is already too big to be 100% sheeple safe). Safest is to just stick with some Victorinox or Leatherman, preferably pink.
