New job, new work knife PART DEUX: UPDATE: Got it! Pictures on page 2.

You can try the Mora craftline electrician knife. It has a short sheepfoot style blade and last I checked it was available in stainless and carbon. Plastic sheath and under $20.

What about the (Evans Knife and Tool) EKT Companion?
S35vn, multiple scale options and a kydex sheath.

It's hard to beat a sheepfoot for non-threatening. You'd cut quite a swath with a Kai Shun Classic vegetable knife from AG Russell. But it doesn't have a sheath.
I think if I really needed a sheath knife in your situation, I would take my Henkel's produce knife (about a 4" sheepfoot) and try to find or make a sheath for it.

white river backpacker cpm-s30v,6.875"; blackjack neck knife without scales, buncha barkies are sized right, but maybe not priced right, although dlt has kydex for just about all of 'em; if you like the street beat check around for fred perrin's custom stuff usually priced way low(arizona custom knives, blade art, etc.)or try going to blade h.q. or gp knives or knifecenter and either type in your parameters or start looking at neck knives. oh yeah emerson's la griffe comes in some different blade configurations (originally a fred perrin design i think.) that's in 154-cm and perrins stuff is usually sandvik 12c27,440c, or d2(some kydex concealers too) gimme awhile and i'll probably think of more useful or -less stuff.

In regards to what type of knife might get you fired, I think you might be asking the wrong people, since none of us here are in a position to fire you.

I would suggest consulting with your superiors for recommendations. Or, before buying a knife for work, get pictures off the internet and show them the knives you are interested in and ask them what is acceptable. You wouldn't want to spend a stack of money on a new knife for work, only to find out you can't carry it at work, or get fired for bringing it to work.

It's very common for different people to have very different perceptions of individual knives. Knives that may appear completely harmless to members of this forum might look like weapons to the people whose opinions count the most- your bosses.

Something else to consider, if you choose a fixed-blade, your bosses might not want employees walking around the store openly carrying a knife. And depending on where you live, it might be illegal to carry a fixed-blade concealed, even at work.

Good luck in your search. And congrats on the new job.

Wow. If I worked in an office that is what I would carry. Nice one!

If you worked in an office!!??! You know what I do for a living right? There are three medics that carry these knives every day at a very busy metro service that rely on them to perform the first time, every time. The Companion is more than just an office knife!

Here are two of the rescue versions I've done.
