I might have been interested in trying their version of the Axis lock but I don't recall seeing any examples that weren't Chinese D2 with a price tag over $50.

If you want to talk "irony", Sandvik created one of the best budget blade steels in 14C28N at Kershaw's behest back in the day. Kershaw had exclusive use of it for years. Now, I mostly see it being used by Chinese companies and sometimes at prices competitive with Kershaw's outsourced stuff in 8Cr13Mov and D2. Coincidentally, Bestech just released a knife with an Axis-style lock in 14C28N for a couple dollars less than these new models from Kershaw.
