New Knives Day. A Couple Bark Rivers

These two came in the mail today. They are a Bark River UP Bravo and a Bark River North Country EDC. The UP Bravo has black burlap micarta scales, brass pins, white spacers and a 4.6 inch A2 blade.
The North Country EDC has what they call red pinecone scales, forest green spacers, mosaic pins, and 3.5 inch CPM-154 blade. It's hard to capture how nice the scales look in a pic. Both knives are very sharp. The sheaths are well made and rely on a friction fit and a deep fit.

I am once again very impressed with the quality of Bark River knives. And they sure do know how to make a comfortable handle. Very well designed and fits my hand perfectly with a nice coke bottle shaped palm swell.

These will be put to the test this year on many outings.

Very nice! I have a few Barkies. They do not seem to be too popular here from what I have read.

I like 'em though.
 
Why would they not be popular here? Seems to me that they make a great knife.

They do but anytime Bark River comes up people who mostly dont own BRKT knives start posting internet drama. People say that Mike Stewart is a scumbag and that they put out bad knives, and there are some old threads on here that people will post about how Bark River sucks (example: they will send you knives in the wrong steel to cheat you or Mike Stewart stole $10000000 from someone). Every Bark River thread gets derailed by this stuff in minutes as everybody piles in to tell about how they heard that Mike Stewart kicks puppies or something. There is a lot of "he said, she said" type hearsay and recirculated stories from the internet. It is a real bummer, and distracts from knife talk.
I think that it is the same people who hate Cold Steel for the owners advertising on all of these threads. It happens in BRKT threads, and Cold Steel threads. Someone says "Hey I like my new Cold Steel/BRKT knife! Check it out!" and you can immedieately hear the stampede coming as the herd comes to trample the thread with "Lynn Thompson/Mike Stewart is a scumbag! Dont support these companies! Dont you know that I read on the internet that Lynn Thompson/Mike Stewart worships Satan and kicks puppies!!!" :rolleyes:
Sorry for the little rant here... I just get really frustrated seeing it happen over and over again. Its annoying. :(
The truth is, Bark River makes great knives. I like mine, and they have never let me down. I have used them for years, and a Blackjack 125 made by BRKT is my main hunting knife that has seen quite a few hard and dirty jobs and one or two that I should have known better than to do!

Edit: I am not a "fan boy". I just like BRKT knives for the most part, I have plenty of other knives that I like too (much to my wife's chagrin).

A few years ago, not to long ago, Mike Stewart screwed over a maker on here named Brian Evans. The history of Mike being a crappy dude is well documented.

Your comment makes it seem like Mike gets unwarranted flak. Totally incorrect.

Mike's a turd. And bark river has put out knives in the wrong steel on MULTIPLE occasions. Also documented here.

You love the knives, great. Don't crap on other people by pretending what happened didn't happen or that it's not a big deal.

Here's a little reading on Mike fooling around with Brian and 10,000$.

If anyone cares to look into the history it goes WELL beyond this.

I figured I'd post some facts in this thread for people to make/form an opinion based on information coming from someone other than a fan boy. Don't take my word, research for yourselves. But let's not pretend the flak isn't warranted.

Also, funny enough I wouldn't have said anything about Mike screwing people over if you hadn't of gone on that silly tangent where you defend Mike Stewart from absolutely no one in this thread lol

I spent some time reading the posts in the GBU section. It happens on every forum I've ever been on, and
I've been on forums since Al Gore invented the internet. Somebody has a beef and then it takes off like wildfire.

This is the kind of bullshit that made me leave this forum years ago. Too many knowitalls and people with axes to grind.

All I care about is, the knives. The rest is just bullshit. I bought them from KSF and they have a lifetime warranty.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, some people don't care who they support. That's your prerogative.

Others will speak the truth, don't like it? Tough luck, that's life.
